Half of what you say makes sense, the other half is exaggerated daily mail tropes.
As for calframo, If Stove fans can be sold for £22 then they are being greedy. They should have done a better Patent, but they didn't. So should I throw money at them?

I'm not sure if it is patented or patentable. the Peltier device is well known technology and has been used for the generation of electricity to operate small devices from a heat source for many years. The Russians used to have a small camping stove with a built in charging system for radios decades ago.

Aldi and stove fans is a bad combination. a kraut supermarket selling nothing but rubbish (quite good food though) selling a stove fan which by definition will do nothing is massively asking for trouble. Keep the £20 and use it to light the fire with. Actually which is better a £40 fan that does not work or a £20 one that also does not work? So if you must have a fan, get the Aldi fan which you can still enjoy watching spin and save £20, so Aldi wins again Well, there you go, they do work. They provide visual entertainment. Although in fact they obviously do move air about, a lit match placed 2-3 inches in front of mine will be extinguished. And they advise when more coal needs to be inserted into the stove.

100% better than something which does nothing is still nothing. Zero multiplied by whatever still equates to zero. Basic kids maths.

The Aldi fan pushes hot air from the stove as well as a computer fan. I can now distribute heat efficiently right down through the boat. Your maths on this are crap, because you're just belching crap. I hate it when someone talks crap just because they have nothing else to say.

If thermoelectric fans actually worked then they would have a finger guard, the fact they don’t need one is evidence of their power..... even computer fans when fitted in a proper case always have a guard.

I was offered an eco fan for nothing but I refused it on philosophical grounds.
It was sitting on the top of a stove spinning away happily.
My philosophy was based on the fact that they don't do anything so to accept a free gift of something even if it is free is not worthwhile if it does not do anything.

Mine needs a finger guard at times. Do you get your fingers near it when loading the stove ? Or is there some other eco fan based activity going on.

How I laughed! Pirkko spotted me out of the corner of her eye and noticed I saw it happen. I had taken our ecofan off the stove and put it on the cooker grill to stand whilst it cooled down before we got the boat on the move again (I don't want the fan falling off the stove when we smash into lock gates and bridges and other boats). I saw her reach out to feel if the propeller was really spinning, as it was, of course, invisible - and it gave her pinky such a chop she will never forget! I said something about idiots from the Countryside...
