Some of this is re-hashed from another post but most is fresh.
Due to the noise and vibration from the steadily encroaching piling works on the river, I have moved up to Beverley near the top of the River Hull.
(the pictures of the bridges on the route are in another thread thunderboat.boards.net/post/138582/thread
Tied up at first at the mouth of Beverley Beck, I was expecting the Sloop and Keel society's boats to be coming up to winter in the Beck, so I lay as far away from the lock as possible on the quay

However due to the high winds last weekend they delayed their trip for a week. On the Sunday, I was talking to the lock keeper (who is also the bridge keeper) and he was saying he would be at the bridge about lunchtime if I wanted to get up to the yard I was heading for. so I set off in the rain. I had been for a walk along the next section which has moored boats all the way along to check it out. There was one bit that looked tight, where a cruiser was moored alongside a very wide concrete cruiser. I reckoned there was about an 18 or 19 foot gap. ...... I was wrong, when I arrived there I found it was about 15 foot ...... and Sabina has a 16'6" beam. The boat survived but the tree took a bashing
