This one looks exactly the same but no bowsprit. Eta or is the sawn off bit the remains of the mast ?

Could it be salvaged and renovated? I suppose the cost and time would be huge. It is very sad to see any boat end up in that position. :-(

My cousin has a Merc diesel in her Skutsje ex sailing barge. Ask her just out off curiosity if that's an OM 636 too, or if she doesn't know the type, if it's a 4 cylinder Merc of around 40Hp ? Peter.

I looked at these photos with tears in my eyes, what a terrible shame that such a once very beautiful boat came to such a bad ending. It's definitely a Botteryacht, with her low stern (to pull the nets in). The engine could very well be a 4 cylinder Mercedes of the OM 636 type 40Hp and virtually indistructible, they were very popular boat engines, and there are still many around, I had one in my little Tjalk "Libertas" too. Peter. There were signs that the last occupiers had a baby. Dolls and things. Seems a bit odd to leave them behind but I suspect there is some sort of sad relationship breakdown story to that boat. I'm sure its man/woman problems which cause a lot of trouble with boats. Only the other day I was in the shed at Bell weir boats looking for an oil pressure gauge for Mouse and the bloke on there was explaining that people divorce or split up all the time so there are always boats available and always people (usually single blokes I expect) looking to buy boats. It is the remains of an extremely nice vessel. A work of art at the end of the day. But its wood. I would not want a wood boat would you?No thank you very much, I still like to see nice-and well maintained wooden boats, but after the bad experiences I've had with the wooden boats that I've owned in the past, I've had more than my chair of wooden boats. Peter.

Getting a similar new boat like this build will cost a fortune, but could still be cheaper than renovating this sad- but once very beautiful old girl. Peter.

It isn't that one because the hawse hole on the one in your link is on the port side whereas the wreck I pictured has the hawse hole on the starboard side. Small detail but its small details which make up the bigger picture Eta actually looking closer at it It does seem to have the hawse hole on the starboard side but the anchor is not in the same place. So it could be the same boat.

And don't forget to look for the gold ballast, if that's not your real reason for going there again . It would be nice if this is that boat, as they've been searching for many years, but nobody has looked where you've been. Peter.

I was writing my answer to your previous message, and so missed the next one.
Too bad it's not the same boat, as that would have been an even better find.
Never mind, life go's on anyway.
Peter.

It does look suspiciously similar.
Various bits of the boat are lying around it probably placed there by spring tides. I noticed a lee board with a stainless steel plate on it.
I think your gold ballast suggestion is worth investigating.
And a name. I need to get a name for this boat.
@bassplayer sadly almost all of the starboard side from midships back is gone. Its a proper wreck and if the big boys get their way and the swanscombe peninsular is redeveloped into a huge pleb theme park "Disneyland in Kent" this boat will be landfill.
