Didn't have to. Just like being tidy. Sweeping the evidence under the carpet, heh! That reminds me, I should get around to having another clearout soon. Its amazing how short some peoples memory's are. As most people remember it foxy, if you hadn't deleted some posts the forum was going to be shut down. You are the one with the goldfish memory. Mr D whisked my of-the-cuff remark into the bin straight away. Posts that I deleted were nothing to do with that subject (which was widely reported in all newspapers at the time); I had a trawl through my posts and got rid of the most inane comments, but keeping posts which I thought would be good to be preserved in posterity. Although, it's unlikely anyone will ever be browsing through Thunderboat pages of a year ago anyway.

As I say it's amazing how things change in remembering. I could post some messages exchanged at the time between yourself and myself that might jog your memory. But I'm not that petty, it must have been as you remember it.

Is there something wrong with doing something a different way to others, because it's cheaper? No, but some people seem to have a problem with it. However, like everything else, if someone takes the piss too much, it lets everyone else down and they may get tarred with the same brush. For example, if a boater makes a mess near where they are moored, or becomes unnecessarily aggresive towards a local resident, it does nothing to help the reputation of boaters generally (although the odd local resident has asked for trouble in the past I understand ). To establish whether someone is taking the piss you’d need to talk to the individual face to face to establish their personal position, not make assumptions based on hearsay (and sadly social media is full of that!).

I get that but why the connection between doing something for a little less than usual and making a mess, and being aggressive?

May I politely suggest that his next reincarnation be: Hello Donkey! Your wish is my command! However the wish expires at midnight. It's goodbye from me on a permanent basis, I wish most of you well (yes Ross that includes you). If any of you do bump into me as I travel about feel free to say hello, I'm friendly really.

No connection, just pointing out that it’s a good idea not to give people the excuse to judge us boaters as a whole. I don’t think there is a connection between wealth and taking the piss, Anyone can be an arsehole.

That's a shame - don't be a stranger though 👍🍻

I'm sure we'll catch up with you once we turn East! It's a bit odd that you're leaving now that you've just gotten yourself a boat and things start to get interesting. All the best, anyway!

It's just a place to chat and pass empty time isn't it?
No need to make it something important.
Comment, or not, but don't let it get you down.

I'm sorry.
But I'm responsible for me, and how I feel.
You're responsible for you and your feelings.
We can chat if you're here.
If any of my comments have ever caused you pain, I'm sorry, but I'm not aware of any issues that would prompt your post above.

I was just trying to explain a bit about my life. You are a good person. Having been there myself, I have to ask, have you sought any professional help? Forums like this can be good company but they aren’t really the place to seek medical or psychological help. History shows that even technical advice has to be taken with a pinch of salt! I will say looking back, that counselling helped me a lot. In the end though it was mainly trying to find inner strength and something to live for. The change in lifestyle and living on the boat saved me really (along with having a few good people around me). As Dogless says, the mutt needs you.
