From your input here, I can't see you as antisocial. You seem very gregarious and communicative ... we often can't stop you I have to say my first love is steel narrow boats, but the cruisers often do have very pretty lines, and when well maintained look terrific. Of course they're a bit restrictive to live on. Having said that, I knew a couple who did exactly that on a towpath mooring in Braunston. She worked in the Boat House pub. They were able to use bathing facilities in the disused rooms above the pub which must have helped a lot. Rog

I've canoed from Cricklade to the slip next to the Riverside - we did it the weekend before David Walliams swam the Thames I would love to know what Arkells do to their beers - it's worse than Charlie Well's offerings. The Trout Inn the other side of the bridge is marginally better than the Riverside - we had a great day with the Inflatable there, good food, a free house so good beer, ace day messing about in boats. No idea about the pubs as I never visit pubs. I go to shops buy beer and consume it on the boat. Sitting in a pub drinking beer seems to me to be a waste of money and boating time I'm quite antisocial as well. You can read a book in a pub, catch up on your paperwork, and log in to Thunderboat and have a rant about foreigners, that's what I do in pubs

Yes but I can log onto thunder boat when steering a boat. Admittedly this is rather hazardous if there is anyone else about and can result in potential collision risks but so far so good !
And I don't read books. Not a book person at all.
To be fair I do occasionally go in wetherspoons by myself for a breakfast and a pint of Guinness.

Do you mean to say you haven't installed an auto helm so you can use an iPad while on the move - Telemachus appears to have just such a system.

In the old days an auto pilot was often called "George" ......I think the one on Telemachus is called "Jeff"

One of the lakes near there has loads of old narrow boats buried in it. I think I have the correct lake at the start of this vid. I was hoping to spot them today but no luck. I think I need to be a lot closer to the water to see anything. Anyway, it was such a nice day I had another 20 minute trip up to Denham lock.

That's one of our favourite moorings.
Peaceful and quiet, yet you can easily walk into Uxbridge for shops etc.
Nice pictures thanks.

I noticed Roger who owns the place (or maybe he leases it off CRT) had two or three rather nice old Lister generator sets by the outside tables when I passed a few weeks ago. Not sure if they get used but nice eye candy if you like old diesel engines.
My friend who used to have a cup of tea and cake there years ago asked me recently if the lady called Fran was still running it. I guess she must be getting on a bit now. I haven't been in there for years so was not able to confirm whether she is still serving the tea.
