Some prefer inflatable plastic ones. Not very satisfying, one hand would be more effective. the voice of experience? When I lost my paddle, yes. š

Must say I have never seen inflatable oars. They must be very high pressure. Quite handy actually to be able to roll them up. I've heard they go down on you.

I remember watching on the goggle box Barry Bucknell building the mirror. it really was great step forward for DIY boating. Hi John, I made decorative covers for the storage compartments at the front and got the laser engraver working. Down at the club.

Hi All,
Latest update. I'm too tall, fat and un-supple for the Mirror dinghy in its present mode. I'm going to make a couple of changes to the boat that will make using it a little bit more comfortable. The sailing I have done has been absolutely brilliant.
I hope MM has an answer to my next Q or anybody out there.
I have my eye on a 22 foot trailer sailer. I can arrange a place in a boatyard on the coast for the summer months and I will bring it home from the 31st October for the winter months. What I would like to know is. Can you recommend any slipways on the Thames that I can put the boat in the water and then park up the van and trailer. Mostly a day sail or the odd overnight.
Cheers, Paul.

I regularly use slipways on the Upper Thames. where on the Thames? it's more than 100 miles long !!
I use:
Abingdon (marina) free public slipway - free car park unsecured Hurley caravan park - Ā£150 annual membership, carpark in the field by the slipway Lechlade Marina - about Ā£40 to use slipway and park for a few days - locked gate.

Thanks Bodger. I am in Buckinghamshire so your recommendations would be good.šš» I will look them up. What boat do you have?

I decided not to go for a 22 footer and ended up with a Wayfarer. This will be more comfortable than the Mirror plus I can still sail at the club lake. Built in 1984 and still in fair condition.

Hi Gazza, I would of preferred pale Blue but I am getting used to the Yellow. The links you posted are great, thanks for that. I do like the lines of this boat.

That is a very tidy looking boat. I used to love watching them racing on the Broads at Horning. Phil
