Sachs moped donated by grandad, used in local quarry aged 15. 1958 triumph thunderbird 650, with a sidecar, as a learner aged 19. The test was easy! Took of the sidecar, fitted a bonneville twincarb head and camshaft, high comp pistons, so in effect it was then a triumph bonneville 650. 1971 Triumph Saint 650 ex police, with fairing and panniers. Aged 21. Swapped the Bonneville kit on to that to give it some oomph.
The sidecar came on and off both machines according to need. Wonderful in winter, snow and ice great fun. Completely different to drive than anything else, you have to take it really easy on left handers or the sidecar lifts, but right handers you can throw into and on a rear brake slide to flick it round. Had a cradle to carry the canoe, loaded with camping gear, otherwise a single car seat in a fancy box. In later years aged about 40, got a Kwacker 250, then a few years later a Suzy 400 with fairing and panniers. Went with camping gear to the west coast of Ireland on that.

New Hudson 1922 (I don't want to remember this one .... it was the worst financial mistake of my life. it was in wonderful original condition. I was given it .... it was old and I stupidly was embarrassed to ride it to my friends house so I part exchanged it for a Tiger Cub) (part exchange !!! when I think what they are now worth they should have given me half a dozen)
Triumph Tiger Cub 250 Matchless ( 'Orrible, 'Orrible, 'Orrible I cannot exaggerate how 'orrible) Triumph 3TA Douglas Dragonfly (also another dreadful financial error, partly restored, I finished it. Lovely cream and chrome machine, even had new handle bar and footpeg rubbers but (sigh) not fast enough) Ducati Barcelona 24 hora (250) (If rain was forecast it went rusty, great fun though) MZ ETS 250 (in need of more reliable transport, I bought what proved to be the most reliable, comfortable long distance bike I have ever owned ) alongside the MZ I also owned at various times Triumph 5TA Triumph 6TP Triumph Daytona Ducati 450.
(During my leaves I had been working for a motorcycle shop and got to ride a lot of exotics, it also gave me first dibs at a second hand Laverda with only 700 miles on the clock)
Laverda 750 GT (Main bike for next few years) alongside
Yamaha AS1 (Cafe racer built from two written off donor bikes and then kept through 2 more write offs ) and an ever growing collection of Mark 8 competition Itoms (final total 5 plus many spare bits)
Eventually a choice had to be made between bikes and boats ..... boats won

Can I be a little boring.
I had shares in a Norton 500 (ex army) but the only bike I really owned was a Raleigh Runabout which was such a bag of shit I ended up digging a big hole in the back garden and burying it. Cars for me after that.
