The one and only... I guess Freewind wishes he still owned it. A bike with a personality... mostly stubborn.😱😱 You're right! I have owned two Velos, the first cost £19 and was a bit tired. However with a bit of "spannerin" and tlc I grew to love it.In many ways it was a vintage bike although it was a 1959 model.Single cylinder, decompresser, fish tail silencer, magneto ignition, and a belt driven Miller dynamo. It handled and cornered beautifully didn't leak much oil,and was absolutely reliable. The Triumph was a much more powerful machine (a 1960 T100A) but handled badly compared to the Velo, and had worse oil leaks. There was a small roundabout near where I lived at the time and used to flick left then right on the Velo at 30mph,on the Triumph at the same speed I nearly hit the roundabout flicking left and actually hit the kerb trying to exit. My second Velo, was brand new,in that it was built from new parts.A Velo enthusiast I met through an acquaintance in my local pub,had a large stock of Velo parts and offered to build one for me for £1500.(This was about 1980) It was almost a 1963 Venom, but with some parts from different years. There was of course no paperwork or registration, but it didn't matter to me at the time because I decided I was going to keep it as it was,and sell it on when I retired. I had an old 1800 cottage at the time,15ft frontage but really deep,I suppose a bit like a widebeam boat.I put the Velo against the living room wall, fishtail silencer outwards (no petrol or oil or battery on it) and it looked beautiful. Then I took up with a woman, (Oh yes a man has to have a hobby she said) but she moved in and laddered her tights on the bike a few times, and things went downhill a bit. ("What sort of bloke keeps an old motorbike in his living room") It got to the "either that thing goes or I do " stage, and like a dickhead I sold the Velo.I have regretted it ever since, because she took up with another bloke, and married someone else. There is a lesson in my sad tale, and I wish I knew what it is.

I sometimes think the lesson in this sort of story goes like this
Never. Let. A woman. In. Your life !

That's a bugger. That 200 Honda reminded me of its sibling the CL200

That's a bugger. That 200 Honda reminded me of its sibling the CL200 Reminds me of my younger days at the dive in Coventry. Was always a girl or two riding round like that.

Only bike I've ever owned was a Suzuki TS125X. Late 80s model. It was a load of fun but it kept on pissing fuel out of the bottom. Had a few mechanics look at it but whatever they did didn't work. Ended up shifting it on. I have some regrets, it could have got me more into biking. I think that time has passed, although I'm a bit jealous of Stabby's scooter and am trying to figure out if that would be practical for me and my boat. Can't see where I'd put it though on a moving day. May have to get an electric pushbike instead.

Well, after the last few months, realisation that I’m now too old and decrepit @ 55 to ride a sports bike comfortably any more, the Honda Fireblade has gone to make way for a far easier riding bike… Just need a return to sunny times now to give it a run! Goodbye Honda..🙁 Hello BMW..🙂

Can you explain the difference to us ignoramuses ... different paint job but looks very similar ? Rog Honda ‘crouched over tank’ for maximum aerodynamics, sports bike position, BMW ‘upright’ comfortably riding position basically!

Our last bike was a BMW R1200 tourer. It got sold because boating meant it didn't get used so much.It was a very comfy bike for two old farts.😁
