4 batteries removed, just taking a rest before lifting the new ones into place - standing in several inches of water isn't very nice...

Why are you standing in several inches of water to change your batteries? Need to get down into the engine hole to see the batteries, and yes I do know there shouldn't be so much water there!

Why are you standing in several inches of water to change your batteries? Need to get down into the engine hole to see the batteries, and yes I do know there shouldn't be so much water there! Oo err missus! Blocked back deck drains? Grease your stern gland? Unobliging Bilge pump?

phil70He did say he didn't want winding up Anyway my money would be on stern gland either worn out packing or not religiously greased. Of course if it smells of antifreeze it could be a split or loose hose somewhere.

I believe "Inshallah" is the word to be using. As it means "with any luck" so your prayer involves muttering "The fekkin water will stop getting in now, inshallah !"

Well got the batteries sorted but they don't appear to be charging - time to revisit an old thread and then maybe ask some questions.

New batteries are pre charged but maybe not full to the top. What monitoring stuff have you got? I have a small digital volts and amps (that's only measuring amps out). 13.2 volts is fully charged (after letting the batteries rest for a while after a charging cycle).

Batteries at 12.2v, measurement across alternator and hull the same, engine running at 14 revs, mppt controller says the same. Whats next to check please?
