How about a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV? should do the job nicely and be relatively cheap to run. If you have a drive or garage at home it can be charged at home cheaply Do u have to have a electric charger thingy outside?..just removed back gates and half of fence to make room for vehicle.. Yes to be honest because its sooooooo much cheaper to charge at home, their are grants to pay for these charge points and some electric companies [Scottish Power] will do for free in some instances I can chat to you about it if you want

Thanks..I'll get back to you. Still waiting ref car, once I get it back, I will not need such a large car or won't in a few weeks post transporting sons flooring for his van down to him. Have to stop lugging and lifting.

yeah but ..wonder what all the politicians drive..that'd be a useful thing to publish.. I wanna get rid of my diesel car but its still being repaired I would like healthy option/capable of getting me up to Scotland and down to Dover without hassle.. How about a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV? should do the job nicely and be relatively cheap to run. If you have a drive or garage at home it can be charged at home cheaply A google suggest these cost from £37,000. Would need to be cheap to run!

They lose value quickly. Is there a reason for this? Not having a go, I know nothing of the hybrid market. I am a petrol head.

Mitsubishi sales have gone up 37% last year I think so they must be doing something right, Audi sales have gone down nearly 18% so clearly they are doing something wrong!

I guess that why most people use finance for new cars. Financing deals are like a drug to the motor industry. They rely on it but it can also kill them. Totally bonkers but part of the debt-based economy which seem to be necessary for permanent growth and improvement. Weird shit. In america its even worse. www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2017/06/27/car-finance-boom-unlikely-crash-industry-despite-bank-england/amp/

With you on this. I have always avoided borrowing to buy, with the exception of houses. Brought my kids up the same. Borrowing to have a shiny car seems like madness to me. Each to their own though.

I'm not an eco warrior (more of an eco-worrier really) but I can't see how this permanent growth model can actually work. At some point something must surely break.
As for new cars I have never had one and never would have one it just doesn't make sense. Even without the debt problem I don't see how a car can be "worth" £30,000 for example. I walked past a VW garage earlier and they had a Toueaouaahreg for 50 grand. 50 grand for a car? I know you can get some much more expensive cars but for a line produced vehicle that is ridiculous.

Yes, so am I. we have owned our last four cars out right. prior to that I will admit we got a 3 year loan to buy one. but we sold our car for 4k so had a good deposit.
we felt it was worth it as we managed to grab a brand new focus ghia for 10k.
we had gone in to buy the st. which had only just come out, however before going in to sign our lives away we found out we were having our first baby so decided to not be so flamboyant in our car choice. shame as it's a good motor.
but I'm happier with the boy.
