I'll take some pics tomorrow early. 3 belts definitely. Would be useful to gauge what people think on here. Not looking to 'diss' anyone - just to get the charging problem sorted.

Perhaps it's not a belt at all but a pair of woman's tights? There might be a body in the water tank.

3 belts must be a retrofitted system I think.

Two alternators and a travelpower- at least that’s what I recollect you having - big silver box on the bulkhead by the rear door. Same set up as Telemachus has I believe To improve your charging you need to understand what’s there - I didn’t look close enough to see if there is a relay that links the alternators together. As ever, pictures of what you have are needed to suss our what’s best to be done. I would already have have my ears pricked up if the guy that looked at your installation genuinely believes you have three alternators.

Yes but if he has two alternators AND a travel power than surely he has 3 alternators ?
A travel power works from an alternator. It is a box of gibbons connected to an alternator. So if you say someone has a travel power then you must be including the alternator in that arrangement by default.
3 belts sounds like 3 separate rotary electrical units driven from the front of the engine. This seems unusual.

Travelpower silver box inside, if I understand correctly - what powers it? Sorry for the question/stupidity.

Travelpower is a way of converting the output from an alternator into electric that a woman can use ie 220-240v. Enough for a washing machine with heating element going so around 3.5kw including the fact she has to run a traveliron as well and risk of associated extra power consumption.

I'm intrigued by the idea that @donkey engine has 3 alternators. A travel power unit is powered directly by an alternator. Otherwise it would be called an inverter. I'm probably missing something, as usual, but it seems improbable that the engine had two DC charging alternators and another alternator feeding the travel power box. That's all I find odd but as it has 3 belts I think it must be the case. Presumable a retrofitted thing.

Makes sense now
