So that being the case why would you refuel a boat with the engine running? I don't know, you'd have to ask Tony Dunkley that. He never suggested it in the first place.

remeber they charge double for widebeams. My woman is currently looking at selling her wide-beam for exactly that reason and changing to a narrowboat... Paying for 2 berths = £3700 per year for the wide-beam!
I moored my wide-beam on BW line moorings at Burscough for exactly that reason when I had that.
My woman...

I have read, and been told, that the posh marina near Stone ( Aston? ) has regular winter returnees who organise a busy social life for their group. If you work on a mains hook up and have an emersion heater, I can imagine four months hiding away from winters harshness would be fun and very tempting. But we'd still need to run our engine, so we may not be so popular ... and that's ignoring for a moment my generally grumpy, anti social, sweary, chip shouldered, bigoted demeanor. Never mind ME not wishing to join a club that would accept me as a member ... I fear I may clear the marina in days Rog

We're actually going to visit them for a day (car hire) after the funeral and see what it's like fore ourselves - having already decided that for at least the darkest couple of months next winter, we're going to be "plugged in" somewhere - Cabin fever has really gotten to me in Dec/Jan even without mum's death. It would be nice just to run the central heating too rather than have the fire on 24/7 and using the mains to keep the batteries afloat would drastically reduce the number of hours we've put on just charging for the fridge freezer etc.

One session filling it with petrol will make oil changes academic 🔥🔥🔥🙈 Why can't you fill a petrol engine's tank with petrol whilst the engine's running? What does it matter? It's not like you're spraying petrol all over a hot engine. What about the old bollocks about not using a mobile phone whilst at a petrol station 'in case the radio waves caused an explosion' or some old bollocks like that? What a load of old bollocks.

He'd hate it !!! He would have sleepless nights trying to find the oil drain plug I bet he wouldnt be so keen to change the oil in the gearcase every other day either I sold my boat with the Evinrude 20hp two years ago, and yes, I frequently changed the gear oil on a warm day when it was nice and runny. The man who bought it (for 2,000 Euros) got a good boat, well looked after. It's dead easy to change the gearcase oil in an outboard, two plugs and it all pours out, and then you screw the pipe in and pump new hypoid oil in again.

I just don't understand how you're getting through so much electricity. It's Winter - fridge stuff in the cratch, it really is that simple. And get rid of your telly, another electricity-waster. Just buy books from charity shops.
