We should welcome and embrace both of these new members and remember that Thunderboat has a very "hands-off" approach to moderation and that they are therefore pretty much free to post anything they like without fear of sanction, warnings, bans etc. If they are here simply because they are hoping to make mischief, then they will soon get bored with posting because of the above and the realisation that they are just wasting their time. If they are here because they were looking for the UK's best narrowboating forum then they have found the right place, and we'll look forward to hearing their anecdotes and answering technical questions as best we can. Thank you for theΒ welcome Mrstabby i don't like to be embraced though. I don't have a narrowboat, is that a requirement for being a forum member? You do not have to have a narrow boat to enjoy the forum. In fact you can have as many or few boats of whatever type take your fancy. Or none. There is no rule regarding this issue and Mrs Tabby should be censured for even suggesting it.

Got a hire car and visiting dentist up home before we can get going. In the next week sometime I would guess.

Yea sorry about that Rog but there is an expression- "no good deed goes unpunished"- which is a sardonic commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them, and I'm afraid that for us, your experience at that lock that day will forever be "the gift that keeps on giving".

probably best not to take a 70 footer or you might not be able to get it round in one go.

The welcome didn't last long. someone changed my forum name and avatar. I can only guess it wasthe forum admin. I'm not with you. Your forum name (moderator) is unchanged and your account is showing the default "cat in a pirate's hat" avatar which you can customise by uploading your own avatar.

I like caveman and I thought Moderator was a bit of a hoot as a user name. If they are refugees from over the road, so what, though it's kinda part of the Thunderboat ethos to fess up. Look at Socks, fits in not too badly Phil
