Always take a note of the numbers when you remove things and before they end up in the skip.

Always take a note of the numbers when you remove things and before they end up in the skip. Taking a photo with the phone and emailing it to yourself is a good option

Always take a note of the numbers when you remove things and before they end up in the skip. Difficult when the numbers are in Chinese/Japanese and anyway what's the point when someone far more experienced than me says the filter is crap due to some sort of non return feature being missing and being far too small for the engine. Have numbers of new one fitted but still too small - need length not girth increasing.

Keep the tanks topped up I was only supposed to be here overnight..... That's why you keep the tanks topped up. So you can accommodate unexpected events. A wise virgin always trims their wicks.

A large pan with water in on top of the stove is a great idea at this time of year. Hot water for washing up, bathing, or whatever, and at no extra cost. Although at present we've a pan of stew on the stove ... back to water once we've eaten Rog We do this at home, a huge aluminium teapot. 4ltr. It's on the go now. Also great for anything needing a long slow simmer, like oranges for Marmalade. Now that did make the house smell wonderful.

Spent much of the day being talked through an engine service, very useful and reassuring. Most impressed with the magnet tool finder I got to use everytime I dropped something into the bottom of the engine hole. Now smelling of diesel and oil wearing a ripped pair of jeans (no showers or washing clothes atm due to being very low on water). Slowly turning into a proper boater..... Good man! I've been having fun in here Full report later - but like you I also stink of diesel, I had one handshake refusal and cleared a spot at the bar which was handy 👍🍻🔨🔨

Do you use disposable gloves and if so what type? I had a nasty rash on back of one hand a couple of years ago from diesel and cold wind. So now I use nitrile disposable gloves. Contributing to the plastic mountain Do other people do this and are there any vegetable alternatives ?

That was a clue. Or a calculated guess. Are you going? Been and gone.

You did ask.

Depends, black latex gloves as used by tattoo artist are good, but there are times when gloves take the feel away - as in other intimate situations...! Playing with a DPA pump is one of those situations, loosing the regulator spring and adjusting screw in the bilge is not an option. I try to look after my hands but it's not always possible. It would be fair to say I don't have Fairy soft hands!

The dirtier your clothes get from fiddling with things the more respect you'll get. What's your plan for getting this thing off my neck? Excuse me? That's what you're here for. You're the master of this mechanical stuff. Oh, I see. Now I'm the master of this mechanical stuff. As opposed to five minutes ago, when I tried... ...to find an intelligent solution to this problem. I'm the master of the mechanical stuff! And I have to help you! You! The master of the stupid stuff!

Photoshop! Not me that said 12 fingers. I disagree, with webbed hands Norfolk folk would only count to 2. Or 4 if they include feet. Swmbo came from Wickhambrook in Suffolk, cousins to you lot. She left when she was 2, wisely. However on occasion, reading stories to grandchildren, a Suffolk accent would emerge for one character or another. "Aaapul poi".
