The cottage we lived in with the dyke was interesting, built about 1650 and our address was The Cottage,Main Rd as it was the only one around. The chap who built it was a bit canny and built it in the no-mans-land that used to exist between parish boundaries, that way he didn't have to pay his dues to anybody. This state of affairs still existed when we bought it. I decided to make things legal and approached the parish council but they couldn't decide who the £15 was payable to, them or the other parish, I offered to pay them both but oh no that wouldn't do, eventually they sorted it out The next thing I had to get on a legal footing was the dyke plus some other land that we had squatters rights to. Land registry came round and measured etc and gave us deeds for the extra land, cost £75, cheap eh? The dyke belonged to Black Sluice Drainage Board and they claimed they had no land only fresh air above their dyke and as they were happy for it to be culverted they agreed to me having titled to the land (my garden) that lump of land cost me nowt. JohnV: There are other drugs but I haven't found the side effects with Ramipril to be bad, it seems to just make my throat a bit more sensitive so things that might have just tickled my throat and make me want to clear it now make me cough.
