If the motor is on direct drive to a prop plus you are over volting it then it is working quite a long way outside its design parameters. I can't remember the whole discussion but did you put in an intermediate bearing ? Maybe if you relieve the motor of some of the thrust load by using a plummer block it might sort it. Maybe you have already done this The motor is designed as a drive motor so they fit deep cup ball bearings that have both radial and thrust capabilities, this is needed because it has a skew gear on its drive end. The problem is that even at light loads the noise starts after say 5 minutes same with heavy loads, which doesnt make sense? its worse at 91 amps why that is again no idea, when on full bore its running at 22KW [nearly 30 HP] my cruising typically is at 2.3KW so the motor isnt even stressed and the motor isnt moving on its mounts, also it does it in reverse or forward! I only have a very small amount of distance between the motor and the stern tube, not enough I think to fit a plummer block, so I will investigate heat from the bearings first, and if needed take the motor out again [takes about 15-20 minutes] and strip it and maybe remove the fan to aid cooling, as it has blower on it which moves a lot more air than the fan does.

I am still using the boat on a regular basis, this weekend we popped up the canal for 2 hours or so, we set off with batteries at 60% luckily it was a sunny day and with 3.7 kw of solar putting plenty of charge into the batteries they were down to 50% at journeys end. Through the day they charged up to nearly full and this morning they were charged. Today was very windy, I was against the current, and the sun wasnt shining as bright as yesterday, still I was back at the mooring in under two hours with 75% still in the batteries. They are turned off now and the solar is feeding the immersion heater [waste not want not for the solar] 😎 We are hoping to go out again next weekend, further afield so I will charge up the batteries to full first this time, I am also checking things like how hot the motor gets and checking the alignment to the prop [friction is wasted energy and a hot motor] The motor flat out on fully charged batteries will consume 23 KW so the motor is doing 30.66666 HP, on the cruise I have settled down at just over 3kw, so on sunny days I can cruise as long as I want, on no sun days I have 16 KWhs to play with so 5 hours or so is my limit, as their is nearly always some solar coming in I am happy with my boat.
I will post some videos honestly but if anyone really want to see it now I can whatsapp them

I suppose the nub of it is, how would you fare ccing, a continuous journey. Maybe move every other day? Could you be independant of charging points or a genny?

I am going off for a couple of weeks so we will see how it goes wont we? winter time I should think I could comply with CC regs without to much hassle. I get bored after a couple of hours so the boat suits me and my attitude, others like my mate Keith has to do 8 hours solid cruising daily so it wouldnt suit him. So Jim the answer will be we will see how it goes in August I have a domestic generator the Whispergen but thats 24 volts, I have a 24 to 60 volt charger as well, but I have no way other than solar to charge the drive batteries

Bodger baiting is illegal you naughtyfox. He should fend you off with a bentwood chair, like a true bodger.

Bodger baiting is illegal you naughtyfox . He should fend you off with a bentwood chair, like a true bodger. fuxxy is clearly of limited intellect, he is still confusing good old darntoearth bodgers with the noble Meles Meles family. bodger I is and bodger I shall remain.

Rattus rattus naja naja the list grows Rog ETA called tautonyms ... where the genus (first part) is the same as the second (specific epithet).
