Patty kindly donated some Christmas lights to us. We tried them out first just before New Year's Eve and coming back to the boat yesterday we have just put new batteries in them and are the star of Ashwood Marina! Here we are after a scorching day, +13C in the shade. We cycled 5 miles to Kinver to ring the bells for Sunday Service, cycled back 5 miles, cycled 1 mile to buy 4 nets of logs, walked back with them using bikes as pack ponies, went to Ashwood Nurseries (I bought Kinver beer from the shop), chopped the logs up, and I cooked Sunday Lunch - roast beef slices with horseradish sauce, roast potatoes, parsnips, brussels & carrots in aluminium foil, gravy. All cooked to perfection, with a nice medium-dry French white wine. I do my Brussels and carrots in a saucepan full of water. What does the aluminium foil bring to the table? Bar for a slightly metallic aftertaste?π§π€¦ββοΈ

Roast veg, presume the foil does this, is delicious, a more caramelised taste. My fav is parsnips and tomatoes, can be done on top of the woodstove in an Ali pie can, covered with foil.

Your boat is surely the first one that has Christmas decoration light on this year.
Well, I suppose that someone has to be the first, so why not you ?
Peter.

Reminds me of the shamen song "E's are good". Banned by the BBC as it was too much of a drug reference. Very funny really.
I never took any ecstasy - something I am ecstatic about as my sisters did and a lot of my schoolmates. Just seemed dodgy

This morning. -1C. Note frost on back cushions. Trina's Ebenezer top left. That's a lovely photo of your boat Ross, it's good that we can't see your greasy-filthy engine room on it . Peter.

Hey Ross ..... don't post that picture on the other place ....... they will be frothing at the mouth about tying up with a centre line I will never forget the day it must have been about 2004 a 35ft narrow boat arrived below lot mead lock on the grand Union which is a fairly normal GU lock nothing special but they are fairly deep locks. The person on it tied the centre line, which came down from the handrail, onto the bollard nearest the lock. Then emptied the lock both gate paddles up. It was impressive how far the boat went over. Centre lines have their uses but they can catch out unwary boaters. Not saying that foxy is unwary but proceed with caution innit.

Hey Ross ..... don't post that picture on the other place ....... they will be frothing at the mouth about tying up with a centre line Mr fox readily admits he parks his boat with the centreline. Bus driving is ingrained, there is no hope. Unless someone can persuade the Daily Mail to do an article on knots, mooring techniques and nautical terms.

I have a centre eye on the gunnels, bring centre line down to and through a carabiner or soft shackle on the eye and the job is sorted.

That is a valid and sensible solution to the problem.
I still don't fully understand the soft shackle terminology but as I have yet to get into the bondage scene I think its best to leave that for when I am older. A lot older.
