She didn't own it; in fact she merely resided there for a time while mistress to a Charles Greville; he later passed her off to William Hamilton when things became inconvenient, from whom she took the name she is most famously remembered as, as well as title (Lady Hamilton). She became Nelson's mistress some time later. It was all terribly scandalous. The others were Russell and Wadham which were named after Russell Road and Wadham Close which were public highways may not be true

Basic inter personal skills: If you believe something someone has said is incorrect say why you believe this to be so, and the correct version, in your opinion.

I see they have since added Desborough. Lord Desborough was a Thames Conservancy president for 32 yars. The intelligentsia was put in Greville house. Russell and Wadham were just the ordinary students. There were entrance exams and the head teacher did have a pretty good handle on things in that regard.

Jumped on a bus and visited St Albans.
Lovely sunny day and a jolly pleasant outing.
St Albans Cathedral is worth a visit on its own ... tremendous collection of mediaeval wall paintings, and a stunning building.
Back on board with cold beers now 👍🏻

Charlie has gone home now. We did a load of varied stuff, pumped out the engine keep-all, went to view the Transit van, fitted the Solex fuel tank, painted the offside sill on the Rover, visited the National Motorcycle Museum and the Rainsbrook Light Railway, watched three or four Euro matches, did some weeding on the mooring and he spent much time riding the Solex and the Vespa up and down the farm track.
The weather was nowhere near as bad as had been forecast so in hindsight we could have done the Peak District ride but he's planning to come up again in early August to do that.
Back to Slam Transport tomorrow for a short week, going to east London in an 18 tonner tomorrow.

Back on board with cold beers now 👍🏻 Rog After ferrying three generations of female family members down to the Harry Potter thing, I've twice driven to St Albans to see the Roman ampitheatre and Mosaics. The last time I went to walk the Roman Wall, but looked into the Cathedral first and was very impressed. The only other time I went to St Albans was in the 1970's when I bought a Bond Minicar from there. Driving it back up the M1 to brum was interesting. These days I wouldn't think of driving something like that to the end of our road in the interest of safety.

The Verulamium Museum was a fifteen minute walk from the Cathedral and we considered going but I needed the 'steps' for the town (have to ration to a degree these days) so chose not to. Is it worth a visit brummieboy ? Maybe we need to go back before heading north. Rog

Jumped on a bus and visited St Albans. Rog They were clever to realise that Stalbans was a rather boring place name. Splitting it into two words makes it sound a lot more interesting.

Rog I was a little underwhelmed by the ampitheatre, but it is worth a look combined with the mosaics in the Villa in the field and those in the Museum (where you can also get coffee and cake!!) I am fascinated with Roman heritage but there is little to find in England compared to Europe and North Africa where the sheer scale of things is so much greater. Maybe the fact that the climate is kinder there, or the fact that England was such a small outpost that it was less developed, means our remains are less spectacular.

Thanks for the heads up brummieboy 👍🏻 We went back and really enjoyed the lovely Verulamium Park, the Museum, the Amphitheatre and the Mosaic. The 'Inn in the Park' cafe was jolly good too. It would have been my sister's birthday today so I obviously had to enjoy banana cake and coffee in town as well. Glad we went back. The Amphitheatre was set up for a theatre performance tonight, which probably minimised the 'underwhelm' 😁 The wall hangings and mosaics in the museum were outstanding. Rog
