I thought a similar thing with Burnham. Laleham got me quite confused. West Ham was even more difficult. I've never understood why Northampton and Southampton are so far apart.

Surely you must have realised they are poles apart?

I lived in Hampton Wick for a number of yars as a youth.
I was aware of the cockney rhyming slang.
As in 'Ouch I got my Hampton caught'

Cold, grey, rainy day here today. The boys are coming up today for a few days, hope we get a bit of decent weather to go off biking. It's their birthday today so we'll probably have a take-away from the Brinklow House chinky.

Cloudy start, but the sun's just breaking through now. ⛅️ Nineteen degrees in the boat so certainly not cold. Hope it dries up for you Mr Stabby and the lads ... have fun. Rog

Both boys have phoned, unfortunately Sam can't make it up today as he has a very bad stomach upset. They went to a BBQ yesterday so I guess he ate something there that disagreed with him which Charlie, being vegan, didn't eat. But Charlie is coming up anyway and as both bikes are already in his van he's bringing both up, and Sam is going to get the train up tomorrow if he feels better. Bit of a shame but a long journey and motorcycle cruising won't be much fun when he needs to stay in very close proximity to a toilet.

Shopping stop in Nantwich. I had forgotten what a pleasant town it is. Apparently the greatest concentration of listed buildings and one can see why. Seems prosperous and wealthy, not quite sure why.

Made a start with Charlie, repairing the Scoopy's legshield, using plastic cut from an empty 5 litre coolant container, pop-rivets and Evo-stik. Will leave it overnight for the glue to cure, then add a bit of car body filler tomorrow. I'm thinking it's a fab job which will be all but invisible when the stickerbombing is finished. Also got the winch in Charlie's van working and straightened out the cable. Off on the bikes tomorrow, maybe Loughborough. Still waiting to hear if Sam can make it up.

As we travelled south we noticed that the trees were totally obscuring any view of Bradwell windmill ... either that or it's been flattened. Today we walked to Wolverton and back and diverted to check it out. Happy to say it's still there looking fabulous. Built in 1805 for £500 apparently. Rog

It is necessary, as a matter of some urgency, to trace and contact the recent buyer of a boat named 'March Hare' (C&RT Index No 68691). Until last week the boat was held in storage on farmland at Dodleston, near Chester. The farmland is owned by the Proprietor and Managing Director, Brian Clarke, of a company trading as Commercial Boat Services.
Commercial Boat Services were instructed by the Canal & River Trust, subject to its powers under Section 8 of the British Waterways Act 1983, to remove 'March Hare' from the Kennet & Avon on 11 May 2023, and hold it in storage pending the resolution of a Pleasure Boat Licensing dispute with the boat's owner, Mr George Ward.
Commercial Boat Services have no right or lawful authority to sell 'March Hare', and the unauthorised sale of the boat last week amounts to theft under the applicable relevant Sections of the Theft Act 1968.
Commercial Boat Services have been given until close of business on Monday 5 August 2024 to resolve this matter by way of formally cancelling the sale, and making proposals for appropriate restitution to the owner of 'March Hare', after which time in the absence of any such action on the part of Commercial Boat Services, last week's sale of 'March Hare' will be reported to the Police as theft.
Will anyone reading this notice/appeal, please pass it on by re-posting it, with my contact details, on any other website, webpages, or forum to which they have participating access. My contact details are :-
