Went up Audlem a little slowly but not too badly. In front was an elderly couple in one of those Dutch barge things. By the top we had established a grand rapport, she was Claire and he was Joe. I had helped them at just about every lock to drop paddles and work the top gate, allowing her to go ahead. Yes nearly all locks against them and precious few boats coming down. At the top she thanked me for my help and said “ And you have the most wonderful blue eyes”. Think she wanted into my pants, but no chance! I was flattered of course, but could help thinking that if I had been the younger female and she the older bloke, it would have been “me too” outrage! Anyway we progressed past Adderley and having discovered a ridiculously big shelf on the alleged VMs above the locks (not to mention rings right in the middle of the path), carried on a couple of bridges to piling giving us a lovely and secluded mooring in the middle of nowhere.

How did the viewing on Dulcinea go Admiral ? 🤞🤞 Roh The geyser really like it. He is in the army so very fit and used to arduous living conditions. He might buy it. We shall see.

Hope it works out for you Admiral. Well the morning's rain has cleared away and whilst still cloudy it is getting much brighter. If the forecast is accurate it's going to be a sunny afternoon. Think we'll walk down the river to Stony Stratford. Still warm 👍 Rog

Moored a lock down from Stratford upon Avon. Couple more days and we will leave the river and head back up the Stratford canal. Not sure where to head from there, maybe revisit the Leicester line, not been that way for a while. Also want a week or so back home. Need to replace the sump on my toy car, last trip out the road attacked me. We have loved being on the river this past month, really chilled and, well, just beautiful.

It is necessary, as a matter of some urgency, to trace and contact the recent buyer of a boat named 'March Hare' (C&RT Index No 68691). Until last week the boat was held in storage on farmland at Dodleston, near Chester. The farmland is owned by the Proprietor and Managing Director, Brian Clarke, of a company trading as Commercial Boat Services.
Commercial Boat Services were instructed by the Canal & River Trust, subject to its powers under Section 8 of the British Waterways Act 1983, to remove 'March Hare' from the Kennet & Avon on 11 May 2023, and hold it in storage pending the resolution of a Pleasure Boat Licensing dispute with the boat's owner, Mr George Ward.
Commercial Boat Services have no right or lawful authority to sell 'March Hare', and the unauthorised sale of the boat last week amounts to theft under the applicable relevant Sections of the Theft Act 1968.
Commercial Boat Services have been given until close of business on Monday 5 August 2024 to resolve this matter by way of formally cancelling the sale, and making proposals for appropriate restitution to the owner of 'March Hare', after which time in the absence of any such action on the part of Commercial Boat Services, last week's sale of 'March Hare' will be reported to the Police as theft.
Will anyone reading this notice/appeal, please pass it on by re-posting it, with my contact details, on any other website, webpages, or forum to which they have participating access. My contact details are :-

Just been helping a friend on the Aylesbury arm. It was the first time I had done any narrow locks for quite a number of yars.
It has been interesting to be honest with me but reminded me how much I do like the River.

We enjoyed our trip down to Aylesbury ... a very peaceful stretch full of red kites. Last two or three pounds are a bit choked up with weed but we definitely felt it was worth the effort. Saw this on our journey north ... spacious but dark inside, although it did have French windows at the front (not really a bow is it?) Rog

We needed diesel today. Hmmm, Norbury Wharf or Wheaton Aston, that is the question. We opted for Norbury Wharf in the end, 87p. Which was a good choice as WA is 87.9p. Both pretty cheap though!

Quite nice today.
The army guy didn't want the Boat.
So we are considering waiting for a storm surge then dumping it on an estuary somewhere. Friend suggests Shoreham. Then flog it to someone else.
