We're going to go for a walk. Spotted on the map Land of Canaan and Bell o'th' Hill. Got to go and explore ... I love the way canals take you to places you would NEVER visit Rog

YEah I got the email last night...a 2 to 3 day window doesn't make for an easy or enjoyable trip from Skipton to Wigan bottom... it's dooable but will depend on all flghts being open oven 24/7 , not too many visits down the weedhatch (on a canal that hasn't seen any movement in months) and assuming wigan top opening is flexible. No other choice than spends 1000s I don't have on a crane and lorry. when we get a date for certain, I'll see if wigan flight clue are prepared to help out the last bit and if they can get the top lock opened "out of hours" - That John bloke there is brilliant and well respected by crt so it might be an option. 3 days is preferred min but if I have to do it in 2 - I will. I've oramoph and oxycodone to keep the pain undercontrol. With dentists set to reopen hopefully you can get that sorted out as well. peterboat says they never closed!!

We're moored in sight (just about) of the disused railway bridge ... but there is no public access and in any case it is waist deep in nettles.
Would be good if it was converted into a footpath ... like the Middlewood Way alongside the Macc.

There you go naughtyfox we crossed the disused Whitchurch to Chester line on the Malpas side of Grindley Brook. Just a sea of nettles. Rog

I hate dentists.
It was funny the last time I visited one for the first time in 25 years for an extraction. He said "Oh so you are afraid of dentists I will be very careful". I told him no I am not afraid of anything let alone dentists so he drilled my artery and I lost shed loads of blood and got pneumonia.
Nice dentist that one. Ripe for a legal claim but I'm not that type of person. I chose to go there it's a hazardous world. It was a private dentist because I don't do dentists I just wanted the dead tooth out.
The most eye opening part was when I went back the next day with blood pouring out of my mouth explaining the blood loss had not abated and that it was not stopping and they said "the hospital is that way." Scumbags.
You live and learn.

Mark, just seen this posted on Facebook by Pennine WAterways; Leeds and Liverpool Canal: locks from Wigan to Bingley - Macclesfield Canal: Bosley locks - Peak Forest Canal: Marple locks Latest from CRT says that these lock flights will remain closed. However, CRT is planning to offer boaters "a window of opportunity" of two or three days in mid-June for "emergency boat movements". Dates to be announced.

Great day cruising today, Tamworth top lock to armitage, seen maybe five or six boats moving, no messing at locks.
Just had dinner and about to have some ice cream, then of course I shall be going home as the hitler regime, sorry CRT say we must, and I would never dream of disobeying them....

Rog It’s the top lock, in Tamworth ergo Tamworth top lock. ok it might be in Glascote. i waved at cuthound from Analworld also, but don’t think he remembered me. If you read this cuthound say hello next time you grumpy git. i also waved at the nice new owners of the Tamworth (glascote) bottom lock cottage, I follow them on instagram and they have recently purchased it and are slowly doing it up, looks a big job though as very dated and damp, but gardens look cool with secret bits.. It was nice to see the levels a good 8” down all the way to fradley, a farmer was pumping water out to feed his cabbages or something, hopefully CRT are making money from it whilst we all struggle to pass other boats and moor closer than four feet from the bank. Fradley was very empty, about five boats moored there and no family’s watching, which was nice. Lots of canoes though, actually hit one at alweras or whatever it’s called, sat in front of me so I just carried on, on tickover.

Another fabulous sunny day. Filled up with diesel from Mountbatten the coal boat ... 70ppl. He also sells various engine oil at around £27 per 5lt, amongst other stuff and I heartily recommend him if you're on the Shroppie or the Llangollen. I had seen Morris oil for sale in a garage (one of the oils Richard sells) and priced it but it was £34 (fully synthetic was £48). Don't let folk tell you the coal boats are expensive Hope everyone is enjoying the sun and blue skies. Rog
