Yes another glorious day down here.. Walked along the front..lovely apart from one patch where mindless morons had smashed glass..path, cycle path and benches.... Home and trimmed the outside hedge...all up n down the road there are manicured privet hedges...then theres me Now have a wavy look on top as I've let the climber grow..u never know it might flower I'm wondering how long it'll be before the OCD that my neighbour has kicks in..my garden a wonderful miss match of wild n other plants all in assorted pots..Oh and Ive got a few rusty dragonflies and other bits. This am tried to sort the solar lights out daughter said I needed but dropped the thing that holds the solar panel in between 2 fence panels so now its tied with garden twine....

Another fabulous sunny day. Filled up with diesel from Mountbatten the coal boat ... 70ppl. He also sells various engine oil at around £27 per 5lt, amongst other stuff and I heartily recommend him if you're on the Shroppie or the Llangollen. I had seen Morris oil for sale in a garage (one of the oils Richard sells) and priced it but it was £34 (fully synthetic was £48). Don't let folk tell you the coal boats are expensive Hope everyone is enjoying the sun and blue skies. Rog There is a boat selling oil round the system, swifts I think it is, he was well priced when I had some oil off him up the Ashby. we drive from home back to the boat this morning, as per crt rules.. nice little cruise up towards rugeley where the boat shall stay till next week when we head to stone. now in the garden having a cold beer

Yes @froggy the oil boat's been mentioned before ... I think by aquarat. Handy to dispose of old oil too I seem to remember ... but I've never bumped into them at the right moment ... one day perhaps. Speaking of which Nantwich basin used to take old oil as they used it for heating one of their sheds ... but they've no oil burners left I'm told, so no longer take it without charging. I have to pay to buy oil ... I refuse to then have to pay to get rid. Rog

Here in marina land the barriers and "private f off" signs gone ready for Monday and it's like Piccadilly Circus with cyclists, motorcyclists, dog walkers, families having picnics...car park rammed...nobody is waiting for Monday. No change in moorers virus related behaviour so it's a bit annoying to be swamped with outsiders. The cafe isn't even open.
TBH I think the marina have made a big mistake taking the barriers down. While you could always drive round them it was a working deterrent and it's a private marina not the flippin public park. I wish they'd all F off, nobody here has had the virus and there are a lot of vulnerable people here, it's like a floating retirement home.

Back to getting on with the jobs after my breakout to go boating (Yeah !!!) on Wednesday. Finished wiring up the control panel for the little standby tug at the drydock. Cleared another few feet of the quay of weeds and deposited silt and cut the steel for a modification to the walkway. (the waterlevel is so low that the end section is going lower than I designed it, so am putting a "rest" in so that it cannot go low enough to do damage to itself.) Only cut the steel as it was too hot to weld, so I moved to the shade and spent the next couple of hours with a beer ...... or two

I feel sure that naughtyfox will know where to dispose of oil in an environmental and suitably socially distanced way.

Talk of JohnV going boating reminds me ... what's the latest Mr Stabby ? You still hanging around your moorinfg ? Rog Sam arrived yesterday. He's living aboard now so he has Government permission to stay overnight. I got his little Honda running for the first time since 1989. Still lots to do to it though. And tomorrow we push off and we are going to do the length of the Ashby. I've done it myself on my own but our previous attempt to do it together was thwarted by non-stop rain at Hinckley so after a few days waiting for a break in weather we gave up and turned and ran for home. Also hoping to drop in and have a chat with the bods on the Battlefield Line as I've offered to do voluntary work there.
