First lock queue of the year ... surprising as we barely saw a moving boat until arriving at Penkridge. Boat on water point, boat waiting for water point, boat in lock going up, boat turning to use lock to go down We didn't need water, but I did cassette and rubbish as we locked up (after I'd worked a single hander down). All very quiet then to Gailey, in beautiful sunshine although a cold wind. Hope you're enjoying your weather in Finland as much. Rog

Hope you're enjoying your weather in Finland as much. It's all the same when I'm at work. I prefer snow storms and fog and really bad conditions and chaos. -14C this morning, -10 on the way home at 5pm. Sunny. Bought flowers (4 different coloured roses in pastel shades) for the Witch as today is 14 years since we met for real, after chatting on-line for about 7 weeks. And a dry German Riesling to wash our spaghetti bolognese down with.

Rained and rained and rained.
Moored up cosy by the fire now ... and still it rains.
Suppose we need some.

Just been to the boat, dropped off a new gas bottle, the pound is full, water cascading over adjacent gates from the summit pound. Showers sun and cloud here this afternoon.

Did a short move today, just Glascote to Hopwas, Been raining on and off all day, and a cold wind too so it wasn't very pleasant. Still, I'm only a few hours cruising from Fradley and the locks don't open for another six days. Thinking now I might do a bit of a diversion on the way oop north and have a run out on the River Weaver again.

Well the 10% chance of rain gave us a morning of rain... Childminding .... Off to play zone for 2 hours of climbing, sliding down slides and considering whether I was getting too old for this malarky ... However the little one(almost 2) does not vocalise any words but his amazing sound vocab leaves me in no doubt what I have to do.... Worn out..vino moment.. Friday am loitering with intent along Brums canal towpath....

Agree, the Weaver is well worth the diversion - but beware - Saltersford Lock is now out of action until 18th April. Hope to catch up with you on the way OOp North. Met x eta - Think you spoke too soon, Rog xxx

Thanks, but at the moment I am just planning a trip down on the boat lift and then the short run into Northwich so the closure won't affect me. My Mum (and Sam) is coming up for a couple of days, so I thought that would be a nice experience for her, then the following day get the train/ bus replacement service from Northwich to Liverpool as she's never been there, and do the Mersey Ferry/ U boat/ open top bus sightseeing thing etc. Doing this rather than going into Liverpool with the boat would also free up time for me to maybe do the Caldon Canal on the way up.

With you there - I'd far rather do the Caldon.
Hope you, Mum and Sam have a good time; from a personal point of view (single handed with pets) the Liverpool Link and docks can be hard work - but worth it in some ways .....
Enjoy OOp North - I did!
Met x
p.s. worth a catch up to dispell all the myths!!!
