What is sunrise? Sun's out now, it will be dull and overcast by Wednesday down here. Sunrise is what you see on the way home from the pub.

Speaking of driftwood I've just been out in the dinghy looking for firewood.
Nothing special today but a few days ago I found a very nice old piece of teak bank protection wood. Quality firewood that is. A bit hard on the bowsaw blades but worth it as it burns slowly, loads of heat, loads of deforestation eco-worrying and also a very pleasant smell to the smoke.
Quite chilly today. Currently have a bit of maple burning. Fallen branch.
Nice.

There's no need to describe people from Manchester in that tone of voice just because they have been out partying all night in groups of hundreds!

Had a drive up to visit my brother in North Yorkshire and whilst there received a call from work inviting us both to do an extra four hours, 5pm to 9pm. All done and home now ... four hours is tolerable Rog

We awaken in Lymm this morning but it's wet and windy and doesn't bode well for the trip into Manchester later. We are low on water and I was hoping to wait until Stretford to top up but given the wind, I think I'll do it before hand.]
LAST night we had tea in the Golden Fleece here, complete with a bramble bombay sapphire FRREE courtesy of a voucher deal we'd both been emailed... because they are in a tier 2 area, they have to check we are from the same household, make us do the revised track and trace thingy, and there are signs up saying things like "in order for us to comply with government guidelines and close the premised by 10pm we will turn all the televisions off at 9.45 to clear the pub by ten" - I'm paraphrasing a little but you get the jist.

early start today, out for parts ..... everything is going wrong at once !!! ..................... possibly quaysider syndrome ? you may jest, but my water pump sprung a leak the other day... I only noticed it cause when I was stripping the guest bed I spotted the oak flooring looked a bit "odd" - upon closer inspetion, a plank had warped where the dribble had been running under it. Suffice to say, I already HAD a new one on board and have swapped it out - pending repair of the old one which I'll keep as a back up for next time it happens. twitter.com/i/status/1318195117342195712

Are you done for the year now quaysider customer wise ? Rog yep - last 2 sets cancelled so we we'll be marina hopping (for shoreline) until I can afford new batteries in the new year. I might do a few shorter trips along the Leigh Branch or to Anderton but before then , I need to do a lot of work on the website to tidy up/reorganise some of next years trips. I hate web building - not only am I crap at it but it feels like "sunday night homework"

I am hoping that it's just a short bad run
My Central heating started playing up on Sunday, it would fire up ok run quite happily for two or three minutes then stop and the fault light come on. ..... Prress re-start and it would fire up again as normal run for two or three minutes ..... and stop and the fault light would come on. On Monday stripped it down, cleaned everything (not that it needed it, it was very clean inside) checked everything I could check and re-assembled it ...... it started fine, fired up and ran for two minutes ...... and stopped.
I lit the logburner in the saloon.
Monday had a talk with the makers (very helpful but couldn't take it on as a repair as they were banged out with work) They gave me some things to try to see if we could identify the fault (apparently not one they had seen that was just like that) This involved checking the timing of the diesel spray, the pattern of the spray and the timing of fuel/ignition etc ..... none gave a definite fault but it was enough to narrow it down. We made up a list of the bits to try in order of likelihood (cheapest first and easiest) but as it's a 90 mile round trip decided to just get the lot and if they weren't used they would go in the spares box.
By this time I was smelling of diesel and nicely decorated with soot, so I switched on the immersion heater for a shower (not used for at least a couple of years as the central heating normally heats the water)
You guessed it ........ immersion faulty !!!
managed a decent wash (including hair) with kettle fulls of hot water ......
This morning got up to find a puddle on the floor in the saloon, I have a water leak (very heavy rain last night) but it seems to be coming through the deck !!! I can only think that it's somewhere along the seam where the tank top is bolted to the deck (1 inch bolt every 6 inches) that has been on there for probably 50 years without leaking !!!
Anyuway set off this morning to get the boiler spares, good trip (motorway nearly all the way) got baqck 10 ish and as I locked the car realised that I had lost the front half of the indicator/sidelight cover on the offside ...... I remember hearing something clatter under the car while I was on the A1 .... that must have been it ...... so it's somewhere on the central reservation !!!
Let's hope that's it !!!

Hi John, Is your heating a "conventional" boiler? If it has a standard pressure jet burner, the fault is indicative of a failed solenoid on the oil pump. To check, if it's a danfoss pump, get your multimeter ready, run it up to lockout, then pull the plug out of the coil and check for open circuit across the live and neutral terminals. What make of burner is it?
