eta - that friend is NOT Wilson, nor Colin/Culina, Terry nor Trevor - so you can be sure they won't pinch your prawns.

Thanks Tony, it’s appreciated, beer on me if we ever cross paths! It's no hassle Dave, just a 10 minute diversion, I'm sure you'd do the same if my boat was up in your neck of the woods. I'll be going back through town to pick up a new chair in the next few days so I'll take another look in daylight, but at the moment the boat looks fine.

well I never - I've just gone into the cabin to close the front blinds and whilst I've been sat, sitting here looking up property in Cyprus... 2 inches of snow has landed and is still coming down!
I'm a bit annoyed I didn't fill up a coal bucket earlier as I'm down to about 10 bits... hmmf. Plan b - I'll let the fire go out over night and set the heating to come on an hour earlier in the morning so I can "save" what's in the bucket to re-light a fresh one in the morning ... thus saving me going out on the roof until I get back from my first walk.

I think we need to remember the old legal adage about footballs being innocent until proven guilty. At this point I have no hard evidence linking Wilson to the prawn theft, or the cheesecake. I have to accept that there is still a tiny, tiny chance that I might have eaten the prawns myself and somehow forgotten, due to drinking beer beforehand. Of course I'm not taking that theory seriously, but at the moment it still cant technically be ruled out.

Snowing here too, by 'eck! It looks lovely, but I'm glad I dont have to make any trips tomorrow... Then again, it'll probably be gone by lunchtime. I do sometimes wonder how boaters coped during that awful long freeze of 2009-10, that must have been brutal

That was last night - this morning, it's drizzling and just the odd bit of whte remains It'll be perilous under foot though... still, time for another coffee before I head up on the roof for a bag of coal - the webasto has been on since 5 so it's 24 degrees in here. I do like being on shoreline so I can forget about the batteries when the heating is on. Todays's walks will be slow goinging I suspect but needs must... I've 7/8ths of a pound to shift before offical weigh in tomorrow morning... maybe I just been a big poo

same here Patty ..... blew a proper hooligan for a while. Lots of banging and crashing from the moorings but everything still undamaged, an aluminium boarding ladder that was hung on the side of the wheelhouse ended up lying on the stern deck trapped by the handrails (fortunately as it is a specially modified one that hooks onto either the toe rail or the hand rail as required) The top section of the wood burner's flue is at a jaunty angle and Lord alone knows where the cooly hat ended up
Got an early morning phone call from the diesel man and my delivery arrived at 7.45 .... that's good, I won't have to be hanging around waiting, I can get on with some other bits and pieces.

Glorious sunrise this morning. It comes up in line with the River straight into the back of the wheelhouse/saloon. The River is flying past but not particularly high. Most of that heavy rain was up north.
Yesterday was the worst day so far for my new solar (1kw) which I have had on here since November.
Today looks more optimistic.

It was an interesting night to say the least, at 10 pm the water was 6 inches from topping the lock, it must have topped the lock at about 0030 as a flow developed in the canal, I had lengthened ropes on a number of boats earlier on so fingers crossed for no damaged boats today, I woke up at 0200 and the boat was high in the canal but it looked as though it was going to be safe I checked the flood warning site to find that we were indeed flooded and the level was still going up! This morning all is well boat is sitting high the Don is going down slowly however the Rother isnt, it still seems to be going up so interesting times for a while methinks. Of course this morning is a glorious morning with the sun shining brightly perfik
