Going to paint my gunnels down to the strakes this year in a rather fetching matt black look..... Any suggestions as to what paints best for this job and where can you get big tins of it? Cheersπ

I used black gloss on one side last August, and black 'silk' on the other, doesn't really matter, they get scratched and repainted time after time. B&M shop for cheap paint? B&Q? Homebase? I'd sprinkle the gunwhales with play pit sand during the painting, for sole grip.

I remember now that my daughters boat was painted with that (there was a 1/2 tin left in the jetty box) which looked great. Apparently Andy Russel no longer supplies it, but its available from the original manufacturers cheap... www.3ppaintcompany.co.uk/Ill be having a blast over to Stockport to stock up with some soon! π

Rog One day, she will be traversing the gunnels in her heels and will slip, we need you to run for the camera before you help her out. Then you can say "Told you!" You can frame it with an embroidered motto "When Jane Was Wrong". Now if you show her this, best say "look what that nasty troll Jim has posted" even if you agree.

No, it's the colour she's determined on.
There is anti slip on the gunnels but the gunnels are gloss green same as the cabin sides.
I'd prefer matt black. Easier to 'touch up' in my view.
See where my view got me !

Thank you.
Was it originally an outboard ?
That's a hell of a counter to have no engine under.

Thank you. Was it originally an outboard ? That's a hell of a counter to have no engine under. Rog It had an inboard raw water cooled engine, judging by the holes in the Hull. I removed the engine bed. The shaft bearing is still in the Hull, but has been welded over. I don't know how long ago. Original Hull was an inspection launch, registered when the system was created in '68, its older than that. There was a metal frame under the old wooden top, going forwards from the step in the gunnels. The stern deck was originally half the length, 2 "lockers" were added for fuel and gas (wet locker) the 10hp Honda on a bracket between them. That engine was a bit small, the 20hp is great, on a new transom beam set further back between the lockers. Ali checker plate covers the gas bottles. I added the bumper around the engine, it hinges away to tilt the engine. Cabin innards are from a caravan, stove came with the boat. Re feet! Cheeky mare, I'd left my nail varnish at home.
