Are we allowed to ask why you are rushing to Leeds - what job you will be doing there? And will you be using the boat as a residence? I started my new job start of last week (I'm a software developer) Your task for this weekend is to work out what the 'matrix-style' lettering is on the TB forum, and how to get rid of it.

This was made obvious when I saw Tony was pulling out all the stops to get him there. They don't like it up 'em Mr Dunkley Rog

The good thing about Leeds is you can jump on a train and go bell ringing at Gargrave of a Monday evening. Or you can carry on through the Pennines to Appleby/Carlisle. Or nip up to Knaresborough. Harrogate is a bit of a shithole.

Morning Debbie. Be afraid. Now that you have read this your best option is to cooperate, get in touch with wellyftw before he arrives at your Leeds office.

I started my new job start of last week (I'm a software developer) and while I work remotely and could potentially work from anywhere, it's a new job and didn't want any issues or uncertainty with being able to work - ie. being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no internet access that I need for the job. And yeah, I'll be using the boat as residence! (I've been using it as residence for two years now, had a different boat before this one). Sounds like you've pretty much got it sorted then welly . You'll really enjoy it on the water up around Leeds I lived up there for about seven years and really had a great time.

It's up! They opened it up about 5pm. They had a few issues with the hydraulics but eventually got it sorted. Managed to crack on for about 3 1/2 hours until it got a bit too dark so am at Sykehouse Lock. Stopping here for the night and an early start to try to get to Castleford for 1pm where my mate is meeting me to help me do the last stretch to Leeds.

I love the mix of river and cut round there. If you have a mind to get a bit of fresh air have a stroll round St Aidans RSPB reserve next to Lemonroyd lock. We had an enforced stop there in September, river came up.

Made it to Leeds! Thorne to Sykehouse yesterday, got up at 6am this morning and had the Sykehouse Lock debacle. Managed to get shifting by about 7ish, if not a bit later. Rolled up in Castleford at 12.30 where I picked up my mate, his wife and two kids. That made the last stretch from Castleford to Leeds fly past. We got to Leeds Dock at 4.30 when it started chucking it down and so that in combination with being tired and hungry, decided to call it a day. I could have got to my final destination in perhaps another half hour/45 minutes but I was ready to stop. So moored up in the Royal Armouries visitor moorings until tomorrow night. I was a bit concerned that the visitor moorings would have been filled up but soon discovered there was one other boat there. Apparently this isn't London where every last inch is taken up by a boat. Pretty refreshing. So it's done! London to Leeds in less than 14 days of actual cruising time.

You have done well, you are now in the county of very underused waterways, that can be very beautiful, please dont go telling everybody, we like them like that!!!
