Fab..great to read u r there ok..now enjoy the less crowded waterways.... Thanks patty! Was a journey alright but already feeling a bit more relaxed and not worrying about London boat congestion! I shall be planning my future cruises but in the meantime I have a mooring outside where I work that I can use so no plans for any boating in the immediate future. Will have a month or so away from the tiller!

Will have a month or so away from the tiller! You will suffer terrible withdrawals. Hold your hand out now, is it trembling slightly? Now rest it on your tiller, I bet it stops! It will only get worse! The railways followed the canals, so whichever way you go from Leeds you can get the train back if you need.

I know people ;like to knock CRT, but I have in the most found them ok, maybe its taking the time to get to know the bods on the ground, a bottle of wine when they have helped me, it all fosters a working relationship with them To be fair, the ‘bods on the ground’ have nothing to do with issues like this one. It’s those in management and those who are directing them. If they were prepared to give their side of the story everyone could then make a balanced judgement of what is going on. I personally have had very few issues with CRT but I have continually criticised their lack of openness. This I could expect coming from a competitive private corporation, but from an organisation which portrays to be a charity, it’s not really acceptable. CRT should be fully accountable to the public (particularly as we all fund them, tax payers and donators alike). I also think personal agendas do have a big impact in these situations. Some may use it (rightly or wrongly) to give CRT a hard time. Others may see a threat to their own lifestyle. The important thing is to get the truth out from both sides so some good can come out it. Oops, wrong thread. Sorry Peter. I’ll leave my post intact though as it’s still my view.

Apparently this isn't London where every last inch is taken up by a boat. Pretty refreshing. So it's done! London to Leeds in less than 14 days of actual cruising time. Your going to enjoy it so much after the congested canals in London. But as Peterboat says don't tell everyone.

Don't forget to nip up to the bar (Sky Lounge) at the Double Tree hotel between the railway station and the canal. Doesn't cost anything for the view.
