This subject must have been done to death I know but my roof needs a repaint and I want something that is robust rather than just a high gloss pretty finish. All sorts of paints get recommended but are there any really robust paints that will do the job - preferably with a matt or silk finish. One paint that is getting advertised in a boating paper is Bedec Super-Flex. Does any one have experience of this?
Thanks

Can't add much really other than to suggest avoiding floor paint. It's non slip but the one I bought gave off a chalky residue which ran down the sides whenever I washed the roof, the grey lines down the green on the side were a bugger to wash off. I re did it last year in Paintmaster gloss grey with sanded squares for grip. Only a year so not long enough to come to a conclusion really but so far, very good.

Not had much luck with floor paint myself. It started to flake after a short time. Wondering about Rust-Oleum now. That seems a robust answer from the specs.

Depends on the type of floor paint.

Depends on the type of floor paint. Any suggestions? Not really, I buy 20lt tins off eBay as I've got a big boat. Never had the issues you and riccco have, the only issue I find with floor paint is that you have to flatten it well when you want to paint over it, good floor paint has a protective anti chemical surface layer on it. I have a friend who uses two-pack epoxy floor paint on boats with good results.

Sabina is virtually all areas that get walked, sat, things thrown on, stored for weeks etc. etc. The lower deck is painted in grey garage floor paint with added grit in square panels It has only been on since last summer so still too new to comment. The raised central section ets a fair bit of abuse from dinghy being dragged over it, garden chairs table etc and that is painted in International UN1263 two pack grey paint. again a bit early to give any serious comment (about a year), but so far it looks much as it was when first painted (apart from the dirt ) certainly it has not yet got scratched or scraped noticeably. The paint scheme prior to that was ex Navy Battleship grey Silicon Alkyd, well out of date and £15 a 20 litre tin .... that lasted 10 years (about 7 before it got a bit scabby) unfortunately it was a limited supply

I painted the whole upper structure of mine with Rustoleum, no problems, I also used a plastic bead "sand" on the gunnels and Bow deck. It was cheap enough in the shop to give it a go, easier than making an extra journey for sand and drying it in the oven.

They certainly have a wide range of colours.

Hammerite black mixed with white is another option. Grey is better than black or white.
I don't usually engage with painting in my world so not an expert its just what I was told.
Point being that you can get big tins of black or white whereas other colours are small tins.

I agree. Our roof is currently grey and will stay that way :-)
