My water system developed a small, nay tiny, leak that was causing the pump to tick periodically. I did turn the pump feed off in this instance, but only till I got a round tuit. Same with us - I fixed the leak in the shower Whale Gulper cupboard during a thunderstorm in Uppermill. All our water pipes could be as old as the boat - 33 years (?). I will replace them if/when I can. However, we shall continue to turn the water switch off, makes no sense to leave it on. Drinking water comes from bottles/containers, and we don't need to turn the switch on to pour from bottle to kettle.
