£6 of that is tax, to go towards the 39 billion the EU want. Seriously - £34 for an alternator belt? Write to them and ask why it's so much.

I bet its a slimy indian getting the profits.
What about eurocarparts ? Take the belt in there and see if their robots can deal with it. Is there any visible print on the edge of the belt?
Or just a local car parts person if they still exist and have not been bankrupted by the big boys.
I used to get filters with a fingerprint brand I think it was "blue something" from a local car parts place but that was about 20 years ago and times have changed.
It will be a generic filter.
If you get the existing one off and wipe it with some old straw then take it to Hellfrauds it may produce results.

I went into a shop the other day where someone had omitted to remove wholesale prices..admittedly clothing but I took 2 identical jumpers to the counter to ask for an explanation as to why one was over double price of the other....she got tad evasive and embarrassed.... Didn't buy either cos didn't want them. The retail mark up is big because overheads, profit etc etc...

I use Midland Vehicle Components at Bedworth, super cheap and very helpful. I pay £1.68 + Vat for a (Wix, USA-made) BMC 1.5 oil filter, the cheeky bastards at Midland Swindlers want £13.90 for one.

A quick Google suggests the oil filter is a Fram PH2811.
EDIT I see IainS beat me to it.

They might not have those particular oil filters on the shelf, but they will be able to get them in next day, if you're planning to keep the boat I'd suggest you order half-a-dozen then they will give you a good trade price on them. Take in the old fan belt and they should be able to match it with a Gates belt.
Tell them the boaters at Colehurst Farm sent you, for some reason they seem to like boaters.

I've never figured out why some people put massive prices on belts. I always used Gates, local garage stocks them for not a lot. Same applies to filters Phil
