Longevity of electric cars verses ICE is as yet untested. I suggest we discuss this again in 20 years. The closure of indies who dont generally charge rip off main dealer prices is hardly something positive. ICEs wont be around in 10 years so it dont matter Now you're talking complete rubbish, and "letting facts get in the way".

That entirely depends on your motoring requirements. Popping to the shops in a glorified milk float wont suit everybody im afraid. Fastest accelerating production car in the world is electric Tesla roadster 1.9 seconds some milk float!! but when have you ever let facts get in the way? But they donβt sound sexy...

But they donβt sound sexy... you could always have a sound track of a V8 in full cry (possibly segueing into the middle section of "the chain" ) ( 3.03 and on <iframe width="27.220000000000027" height="4.8799999999999955" style="position: absolute; width: 27.22px; height: 4.88px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_7842104" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="27.220000000000027" height="4.8799999999999955" style="position: absolute; width: 27.22px; height: 4.88px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1297px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_87607442" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="27.220000000000027" height="4.8799999999999955" style="position: absolute; width: 27.22px; height: 4.88px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 183px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_4396736" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="27.220000000000027" height="4.8799999999999955" style="position: absolute; width: 27.22px; height: 4.88px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1297px; top: 183px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_7985007" scrolling="no"></iframe> )

I'd rather do 0-60 with a v8 than a scalextric.

New IC engines will be required to supplement the plethora of hybrids needed to compensate for the inadequecies of pure electric.

One of the problems with Tesla, which is the most visible EV company producing cars at the moment which people get excited about is the vertical integration of their supply chain. This means if you need parts or service they can fuck you over as much as they want to because nobody else makes the parts. I'm sure this will lead to massive depreciation when the cars become uneconomic to fix.
Selling an electric car by advertising its 0-60 or 1/4 mile is dishonest. Electric will accelerate fast by definition because of the nature of an electric motor v a reciprocating IC engine but you will lose useable range if you floor it too much in an electric car. People will get frustrated by this.

Thankfully there are multiple forecourts near us, and currently only two charging points at our local ASDA verses six fuel pumps. It takes me 5 minutes max to fill my car in order to do at least 350 miles, how long would it take to charge an electric car to do the same number of miles?
