A 75w solar panel seems to have appeared on the boat.

Would you be able to use another of your fleet to create a catamaran/outrigger if you fit a sail?

I would rather use a dagger board as it sounds more aggressive and purposeful which I like.
An outrigger made of a plastic duck is going to cause drag.

I just thought dagger sounded more manly.

Anyway
Having researched small boat steering systems I have settled on the TPOS system at least for now. Its quite good and gives the operator something to do with their hands. As the actress said to the bishop.
Will get some pictures tomorrow.

It is similarly primitive Two Pieces Of String The boat has a skeg so goes dead straight when set ahead. Needs tweaking and some monkeys fists on end of strings or maybe brass door handles. Its like wot you said bodger To turn right round its definitely better to use the canoe paddle...

I used to have a touring canoe with rudder, there were 2 plastic tubes glassed in to the body, strings going from rudder to a pivoting foot bar.

Now upgraded to OPOS with the help of a piece of elastic I found in the playground other day. I had no idea what I would use it for but it was in my pocket and is perfect. Bonus side effect being vessel defaults to one side if you let go on rope so if you ended up in river boat would steer itself rp the river bank. Another thing I want to try is a pressure mat in the seat so motor is only operable when in steering seat. That would be a good safety system. Burglar alarm pressure mat to switch a couple of relays.

Isn’t that a bit over the top? I mean, if it was being stolen, wouldn’t your MI5/6 contacts tell you? I like the way your boat seems to be evolving day by day. It’s a good little project. I have no facilities to make things here. Well I have a work mate...mate...and a few tools I suppose. Projects also involve this thing called ‘work’!

[Projects also involve this thing called ‘work’! That's the theory but this boat seems to mostly involve quick bodges at the moment. And going out in it as much as possible... The pressure mat idea is an alternative to the dead man's handle. I think a dead man's handle would be sensible as well in case of sleeping.

On modern trains you also have to push a button once in a while when you hear a buzzer. That might keep you awake.
