Glad to see his restaurant business has gone tits up. One of the most annoying and irritating TV chefs to grace our screens. His food at 15 was crap as well.

Let's hope the demise of his restaurant chain won't stop him 'saving the lives' of millions of schoolchildren eh?

I complained about his Oxford restaurant. The staff were hopeless. We walked out after having a drink spilt down me and not getting a table whist other walked in later without booking and getting a table,
They offered us a free bottle of wine if we tried again. No bloody chance mate! He might be able to cook but he has no idea how to run a chain of restaurants.
We found a proper Italian down the road and it was great.

He whinges and whines about Brexit although his chain of restaurants in Australia went tits-up last year and I don't recall Australia having left the eu, but he doesn't seem to be able to see the bigger picture, that wage stagnation over the last decade or so because of an influx of cheap labour has left people with less disposable income for things such as eating out, while the new arrivals tend not to spend Β£100 for 90 minutes in any restaurants, let alone ones which generally receive very poor reviews.

Sorry for his staff as the r out of a job Why? Sounds like many were pretty nasty: "We had a table booked for 6pm on a Saturday evening and arrived about 10 minutes early (we donβt like to be late for table reservations). Itβs was incredibly busy in the restaurant, there was a large queue and the man at the front of house was incredibly flustered. We informed him that we had a table booked for 6pm, to which he snapped βyeah, and it will be ready AT 6β, and then proceeded to talk to the next people in the queue. Whilst we understand that the table probably wonβt be ready until the reservation time, there was no offer to wait at the bar (we ended up waiting in the cold outside), and there was no need to be rude." "This place has really gone down hill and Jamie should be ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with this restaurant. We had to wait 10mins for a table with no apology from waiting staff. We had to wait another 10mins for a drink order to be taken by a very surly waitress. One meal ordered did not come complete and it was all a very disappointing and extremely unpleasant experience. Asked for the manager to give feedback on our experience and Haley turned up and has to be the rudest, most patronising and unapologetic staff member of a restaurant it has ever been my experience to come across. I will never set foot in this place again and would recommend that you give this place a wide berth and spend your hard earned money elsewhere." "While we were dining Gordon Ramsey himself entered and was dining the same night as myself and my friends, he asked to speak with Jamie but obviously he was not here, Gordon then stood up and talked about what we were all thinking. "Are you not all here to have your meals cooked by Jamie the award winning chef? I am and he isn't even here! Is this not a mockery of the name? " Gordon said it all, and by God you listened to him. Gordon paid for everyone's meals that night as he was dining too and he felt it wasn't right that you were paying for average meals." "The only positive thing I can say is that the setting of the restaurant was very good."

The Aberdeen restaurant closed a while ago. We never went, all the people we knew who had been, said the service was terrible.
I do nevertheless feel sorry for the staff, it is not their fault they were hopeless, it is down to poor training and management.
