The Aberdeen restaurant closed a while ago. We never went, all the people we knew who had been, said the service was terrible. I do nevertheless feel sorry for the staff, it is not their fault they were hopeless, it is down to poor training and management. I understand the cloakroom attendant has already found work elsewhere locally.

Staff typically “don’t care” because they have no incentive, training or enthusiasm to care, nor realise the importance of it. That is a failure of training and management. Jamie was fairly thick and I’m sure didn’t possess the skills to only recruit staff who didn’t care and couldn’t be trained to, when other restaurant owners manage to recruit staff a large percentage of whom can be trained and motivated appropriately.

Some have ‘rich’ dads who they think will bail them out of a shit job if they fail. Others have poor dads (or family) and want to succeed to better their family. I’ve found motivation tends to come more from personal objectives than some guy in a suit. Not to say there are some good managers and training courses..of course.

A premonition come true? "Dying - This restaurant won't be here much longer and let's be honest, it's not going to create too many tears!! There's a million other chain pasta places with no soul around the world, RIP jamie's Italian!!" "Tesco’s Salad and Papa John Pizza is basically what is served but because they throw some dressing on it they call it authentic. I can see why the staff are so unfriendly, the working conditions and minimum wage just isn’t worth trying for" "would not recommend here, actually it has closed down now, the staff were rude, and seemed very bored, the food was not good at all"

Sorry for his staff as the r out of a job Why? Sounds like many were pretty nasty: "We had a table booked for 6pm on a Saturday evening and arrived about 10 minutes early (we don’t like to be late for table reservations). It’s was incredibly busy in the restaurant, there was a large queue and the man at the front of house was incredibly flustered. We informed him that we had a table booked for 6pm, to which he snapped ‘yeah, and it will be ready AT 6’, and then proceeded to talk to the next people in the queue. Whilst we understand that the table probably won’t be ready until the reservation time, there was no offer to wait at the bar (we ended up waiting in the cold outside), and there was no need to be rude." "This place has really gone down hill and Jamie should be ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with this restaurant. We had to wait 10mins for a table with no apology from waiting staff. We had to wait another 10mins for a drink order to be taken by a very surly waitress. One meal ordered did not come complete and it was all a very disappointing and extremely unpleasant experience. Asked for the manager to give feedback on our experience and Haley turned up and has to be the rudest, most patronising and unapologetic staff member of a restaurant it has ever been my experience to come across. I will never set foot in this place again and would recommend that you give this place a wide berth and spend your hard earned money elsewhere." "While we were dining Gordon Ramsey himself entered and was dining the same night as myself and my friends, he asked to speak with Jamie but obviously he was not here, Gordon then stood up and talked about what we were all thinking. "Are you not all here to have your meals cooked by Jamie the award winning chef? I am and he isn't even here! Is this not a mockery of the name? " Gordon said it all, and by God you listened to him. Gordon paid for everyone's meals that night as he was dining too and he felt it wasn't right that you were paying for average meals." "The only positive thing I can say is that the setting of the restaurant was very good." Is this the same Gordon Ramsey who has also had several of his restaurants go bust? He is always to be found cooking in his restaurants then I assume. He is no better than Mr Oliver. Ramsey’s food offerings are not always as good as they should be, considering the prices charged.

Did you know that Gordon Ramsey's Stool resides in a darkened corner of Thunderboat?

The bottom line is that Oliver probably thought he would make a lot out of investing money in his name, yet didn’t want to invest much of his time.
Time was the important bit...doh..

" Gordon said it all, and by God you listened to him. In fairness, given that there were 42 of Jamie Oliver's restaurants in the UK alone, you'd have to be a bit thick to imagine that he would be doing the cooking if you turned up at one.

Although I must admit that when I visited the KFC in Wigan last week, I too was very disappointed that Colonel Harland Sanders wasn't there to greet me with his trim goatee beard and hail-fellow-well-met smile, and prepare my Zinger meal in person.

Well that would have created some business seeing as he died nearly 40 years ago. Some people just don’t think outside the cardboard box do they Vince?

Giving idiotic names to children can cause them quite serious problems in some circumstances. I changed my own first name when I was 11 as I had some problems with the given name. It was not idiotic but a very unusual name. In France you are not allowed to give kids names which may be detrimental to the child. In the UK no such law exists however you are not allowed to call a child "shitoralia" or similar due to obscenity rules. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naming_lawIts sad to see people giving kids idiotic names.
