Agreed It doesn't come without risk though - mouse had a go at swiping the Dwarf off the roof running down the wrong side of the river at twilight - thankfully no harm done π π§π€¬ππ€¦ββοΈ Well your honour, with a misted up windscreen and two children and an adult up forward, visibility was not good. All I could do was look down the port side!

... is this weekend. Any TBers entering? As it transpires and due to my mum not being very well, we will be in the vicinity and planning to attend the finish sans boat (Oozels st loop / round house area) where, traditionally, there is beer! Ali and me have said we should do this one year.. trouble is we are always elsewhere. All the best to your mother. I keep saying it is something I would like to do, even if just to fly the flag for yoghurt pots. Maybe one day (also Nick, hope your mother gets better soon)

Its a nice idea to do the bcn challenge in a 25ft Splitter but it seems likely there would at some point be an invitation to share locks with a 42ft narrow boat and this would slow things down.
Eta in a situation where there is a perceived water shortage it would be quite rude to refuse to share locks.

In a way I'd like to do the BCN but then in another way I've always imagined it would be over-run by the worst type of narrowboater- pompous pricks with Harold Shipman beards.

The last grp boat to do the Challenge sunk in a Perry Bar lock having impaled itself on a bit of steel debris. Shame, the owner was a great bloke.

Just arrived at motherβs tonight (Warwickshire) having left Aberdeen at 07:30 and had a 5 hour meeting at Portmoak. I must say I am a bit shocked and upset by her deterioration since I last saw her, but Jeff (who has done a fantastic job looking after her) says she is much better than a couple of days ago. Shingles and two UTIs have really taken a toll. I just hope she gets better.

Hopefully she's on the mend. mums are kinda special.

He now has a small(blue) steel narrowboat called 'Mary Beth' & is taking part again this year.

Thanks all for the good wishes for my mum. She is a little better and she was determined to vote (Liberal) today so we managed to get her into the car (with difficulty) and took her round to the polling station, where it had been arranged that a teller would come out to the car with her ballot paper. She then ate a reasonable lunch and spent a short while sunning herself in the garden. But she does get tired extremely quickly and is very unsteady on here feet. But she still has white blood cells in her urine (I got some sticks from Amazon) plus a little blood, indicating that the UTI is still not fully cleared up

If so when? If the answer to the first is yes and the answer to the latter is βa couple of days ago it may be worth getting her urine tested again to make sure the antibiotics cleared everything. If they didnβt the doctor can prescribe further antibiotics based on the new test which should make it clear which ones will work.
