My outlook on the NBTA:
1. Nigel Moore has spoken highly of it, so I have kept this in mind. I don't know much about the NBTA so haven't really criticised them apart from...
2. I have pointed out their 'News' on their website is woeful - it really should be up-to-date and more informative. They seem to like leaving details out to suit themselves.
3. When I wrote to the NBTA about Andrzei's 'caravan boat' their spokesman didn't seem to have a clue about it, despite the NBTA asking the whole world to sign a petition to help Andrzei. Their spokesman didn't seem to know whether Andrzei was a genuine case who needed help, or another piss-taking East European import. No details have been released since about what happened to Andrzei and/or his boat, apart from it being towed away by CRT.
4. Kris states he wants to be elected to some council which represents boaters. However, the NBTA have put forward their own candidate, another person. Kris feels that as a member of the NBTA he must quit that Association in order to stand for election. Why does kris feel he is a better candidate than the NBTA's own choice? Nothing like a bit of back-stabbing, eh?

CRT are operated by the Russians.
You want proof ? Do some research.

Its been said before. But I'm going to say it again. You would be on much more solid ground if you dropped the BSS issue. The quality of writing and precision of detail used in the communications is certainly laudable. Tony writes very well. It is often a pleasure to read his posts. If he could write some books about his life before he snuffs it, I'm sure some copies would sell. Invaluable knowledge from someone in a rare position.

Would you like to tell us all what happened with that, then? Why is VAT being charged for a 'Rivers Only Licence' when really this item should be called a 'Pleasure Boat Certificate' which is excempt from VAT? Do some research of your own ie. you can't provide anything. Typical. Your response is exactly what I expected.

You do pipe up with the same twaddle every time NBTA is mentioned. Its not even original as it originated on cwdf. I have to agree with jenlyn that is shows the person up as an ignorant, arrogant idiot. If more boaters realised the work that NBTA's volunteers do, then they would maybe get the respect that they are due. Perhaps the Naturist Biased Tourism Association might be a better joke alternative. Or: No Boating Today Association, unless you count pedalling your boat with the broken diesel engine to the water tap and back as 'boating'. Yeah - the woman who claimed diesel engines are bad for the environment, flogged her crappy boat, then bought a van with a diesel engine. You couldn't make this up! Well, you could if you know what a hippy-hypocrite is.

I don't think it's particularly subtle and I have said before I think there will be claims of devilment but it is one way of approaching it. ETA I don't believe the aim is for the judge to be interested in the strategy. The aim is to draw the judge's attention to the problem of CRT attempting to override statute by claiming they are entitled to license the use of PRN waterways. I personally think this is not going to work but it's definitely interesting. I think it far more likely the result will be to portray Tony as contrary and obstructive. It seems a fair assumption that, without the BSS issue, CaRT would probably have taken the dough and issued a ROL by now. Perhaps the offer to pay will swing things in Tony's favour; he clearly thinks it will.

He's tried to pay before. They won't issue the consent because the boat is obviously subject to a BS inspection. I think we need one of the Mr Stabby "short and to the point" comments here.

I think it far more likely the result will be to portray Tony as contrary and obstructive. Agreed. That's why I used the word "devilment". Possibly not the correct term to use but it's quite an enjoyable word.

If it weren't for the Mass Trespass of Kinder Scout, many of us would be much the poorer. Tony is doing more than his fair share to try and help boaters. Unfortunately many of them seem to be oh so indifferent and "it's not my problem" waste-of-spacers. Sheep to slaughter. Baaa, baaa, baaa! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_trespass_of_Kinder_Scout

Yes, footpaths and hiking can be started on another thread. For instance, that Ann Gloag had a footpath that ran past her newly acquired 'castle' closed to the general public. BUT, this subject is not really complicated. Tony wants CRT to issue him with a Pleasure Boat Certificate, CRT are pretending no such thing exists and have thrown the BSS issue (red herring) into the ring to muddy the waters (just like their muddy canals!).
