Have the tories got some class a drug issues ?
Michael Gove and the dodgy looking one have so far admitted coke and opium.
Is the tory party just one big drug gang?
And if so would it play well with the electorate or do people in general view class a drug use as unacceptable.
The next thing will be that all of the leadership contesters are chasing the dragon for leisure rather than addiction.
When illegal hard drugs cause massive societal problems. If tory leaders are at it surely the responsible thing is to legalise.
Or is it these people who are getting the proceeds from the high prices caused by it being illegal.
Sounds a bit bent.

I've always thought they should legalise the lot of it. It would cost pennies to provide a smack addict with heroin on the NHS, then they wouldn't need to commit ยฃ150's worth of crime every day to get their fix.

Some m.p's used drugs when they were younger, so what? They were just doing the same as most others.

Its the latest cool-kid look, an ambivalent attitude to drug-abuse. You are so badly wrong. ihavenotv.com/opium-addicted-to-pleasure

But it seems to me that criminalising drugs just isn't working.

Corbyn was very forgiving of Gove in his press statement on the matter. ....... it begs the question - what is he hiding in his own past?

I would be willing to bet that all your experience of addictive narcotics is either anecdotal or third-hand. This isn't some wacky attempt at a dig at you - if thats the case then I congratulate you for your wise life-choices and good fortune. I myself have never had a problem with addiction beyond nicotine. But I have watched several individuals destroy themselves in this way. One thing I promise you - if you had ever known anybody in the grip of this evil, you wouldn't be so comfortable about saying it should be made legally available.

I won't go into my own personal experiences but the simple fact is that it is street drugs which cause the damage and feed the crime. Narcotics which were subject to the usual NICE guidelines and prescribed through the NHS would not only be far safer for the users but would cost a fraction of the amount to produce and eliminate the current criminal supply chain.
The fact that it is illegal hasn't stopped the people you know from becoming addicted, has it?

I reckon if the financial stress was negated from drug use you would find it would be less of a problem.
Isn't it funny how wealthy people can be regular drug users and never have any problems but when it effects people who can't afford it nasty shit happens.
If it was legalised then it seems probable to me that it would become less of a problem. Probably a bit like alcohol which of course is all good.

The fact that it is illegal hasn't stopped the people you know from becoming addicted, has it? exactly. my suspicious mind is convinced that important people in very high places must be profiting from illegal drugs, which is why it has become 'unthinkable' to ever consider legalising and controlling the use of drugs.

Piffle, piffle, and yet more piffle.
It was more that it didn't stop the people I knew.
I grant you that what the NHS would dish out would probably not contain rat poison. The reason why people get addicted is because of a lack of political will to go after the supply. I suspect that there is no conspiracy to get rich on the part of those in control but instead a cynical complacency that it would cost more to take a pro-active approach.
The approach to allow access to opiates has been tried. It didn't work. Watch the video.
Rich addicts probably have just as many issues. But when they have a crisis they can buy their way into a discreet clinic where they get pampered and molly-coddled till they feel a bit more stable again. But in the end all the veins collapse. And try telling Bob Geldof its ok if you're rich. Thats another one I'd like to watch from a distance.
The alcoholic next door was shouting at the gulls to shut up this morning.

Andrea Leadsom admits smoking canabis - think she has got some way to go to be a winner in the competition. Wonder if Boris will come out tomorrow and beat them all in the 'once naughty person' stakes....
