Hi Going to be using the ABL tomorrow but can't seem to work out whether I have to pay or not. The website says there is a booking fee (£5/10 single/return)then another fee £20/30 but then it says if you have a Canal and River Trust license it is free.It may be me being thick but can anyone explain what exactly is the procedure? thanks

Afaik it's free, but it's within range of Bridgewater registered boats so probably they pay.

It's free as long as you don't book in advance. Turn up and call in the office to arrange the first available passage down, and there's no charge Rog

It's only really worth booking if there's somewhere you need to be fairly quickly and want to be on the first passage of the day. If you turn up unannounced, it's a bit pot luck as to how long you'll have to wait. When I went down I didn't book but was on fairly quickly, on the way back I had seven days to get back to my mooring as blacking was booked and I didn't want to chance losing a whole morning.

Yep,it's free & it's brilliant. It's just a shame you can't do the whole river at the moment. We had a really enjoyable few days there last month. The visitor centre is well worth a look.😊

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'restrictions'.
If you're cruising the T&M then your boat obviously is of the correct dimensions.
Have you something specific in mind ?

What exactly are the restrictions as that isn't clear either? Fire, Flood, Civil Unrest and boats named Narrow Escape ?

What exactly are the restrictions as that isn't clear either? Saltersford lock is broken,so you can't get to the end of the navigation in that direction.
