I wonder if they have planned on what day they'll be getting divorced.
Let's say they got married on Monday and lightning struck a gargoyle and it fell to earth and squished them.... they'd wish then that they had got hitched on the Friday.
You never can tell.
Is that an approaching storm I see from our window....?!

They'll just have to get on with it.. Our boys need t'other day and they r much more important.. they'll probably divorce anyway...at least now they can blame their wrecked wedding plans for causing stress n breaking up the marriage.
Suppose they r after refunds of ruined plans and a bit of compensation....

What job are you suggesting is ? If working ... any working, was so great, no one would need paying. But let's be honest ... our heroes of this story are bringing the flak on themselves. Rog Just get really fed up of people knocking teachers.I certainly didn't mention other jobs being 9 til 3.30 jobs so not quite sure why you made your first statement that no job is etc,etc... My point was that loads of folk seem to think teaching is a doddle. It isn't which is why I took early retirement after 35 years. compared with what exactly? most conscientious professionals work long hours in the workplace and also at home, and feel committed to their colleagues and clients. if you couldn't hack it and had to leave, that suggests bad life choices and/or possibly a lack of commitment to see it through. personally I worked on average 60 hours a week, 6 or 7 days a week, with 4 weeks' annual leave, for 44 years, much of it in horrible locations in various backwaters of the world. I got paid the going rate, and didn't see anything to complain about. It's Life - just accept it, keep calm and carry on.

I think retiring after 35 years is not a case of not hacking it etc but a case of having had enough of it !(Especially as it was nothing like the job I started in in 1976)As I stated much earlier, just fed up of people knocking teachers, not asking for anyone's life story. Are you as rude in real life or just a keyboard warrior ?

No disrespect intended, I have family and friends in a similar situation to you. But I do find teachers can be prone to 'bewailing their lot' at every opportunity, as if every other occupation has an easy ride. Rog

compared with what exactly? -working down a coal mine in China -working down a lead mine in Siberia -dustbin lorry driver -toilet cleaner at Luton airport -cotton picking in Louisiana -Bearded Lady at Jim Riley's Circus That did make me giggle but Chris was a teacher for over 35 years at a school in Marsh Farm, Luton (even during the riots). So I’d better behave. When she retired, she never looked back and enjoys every Monday morning knowing she doesn’t have to go back! Kids can be a real pain sometimes (I know because I used to be one) but the crap they get from the system is worse. I think there are few jobs left which don’t suffer the system bullshit. We used to be able to get on with the job and be trusted on a one to one basis. The trouble is that you get paid more for manipulating people with words and money than you do for DOING real stuff. It can’t carry in like this.

Oyyyyy, stop knocking teachers! I was in school by 8am,had a quick drink at morning break, worked through my 40 minute lunch break-which was often shorter waiting for the dinner lady to arrive from an infant(earlier lunch) class.Meetings before & after school,marking/lesson planning/resource making at home each evening.Weekends doing the same.Parts of holidays in school physically moving classrooms, making the room ready etc I spent quite a few years in year 6-SATs year which was very demanding as you needed to get 'on the cusp' kiddiewinks working at a higher level.I enjoyed that as I was able to convince loads of pupils that they could do it ! Teaching is NOT a 9 to 3.30 job ! It didn't cross my mind to knock teachers (bar for the tongue in cheek training day comment 🙈) it was more the fact they are moaning that it will prevent their so called friends from attending a wedding on a Sunday - it is perfectly possible to go and not have to get absolutely ruined! That or get married ona Saturday like thousands of other folks do!
