flexibles have a relatively short life - not comparable with rigid units.

I did a bit of reading up before I bought my panels (although rigid panels were really the only sensible choice for me on Sabina)
Flexibles are generally more efficient then rigids but when mounted directly on a metal surface the build up of heat can reduce that drastically. Flexibles can also be damaged by impact (the report I read gave details of a damage by hail, not the kingsized stuff they get near tornados but the ordinary kind) In the article it also said there had been cases of them damaged when on caravannet roofs by being scraped by branches Flexibles are more expensive per watt.
Flexibles can be mounted where it is totally impossible to fit rigids Flexibles look a damn sight neater They tell me that flexibles are more prone to impact damage but I always look at my panels and worry about little b*******s with catapults and/or airguns
