1/ Man, in collusion with his family, buys some investments.
2/ Said man, several years later, sells the investments, making a profit.
3/ Said man makes all necessary declarations to the tax authority, honestly.
4/ End of story.

I'd vote to bring back hanging if Cameron was to be the first customer.

It really gets my goat the amount of new coverage this whole thing is getting... The world has really important "stuff" going on all over the place and what do the hourly news bulletins concentrate on? - a LEGAL transaction... ffs.

All relevant tax is the crux, the whole scheme was a ruse to evade the tax they should have paid on investments They can say they complied with the lawful taxation all they like, they evaded tax immorally they stole from hospitals and childrens education knowingly by evading that tax.
Defend it all you like for the PM to have been part of such a scheme is a scandal. This is the guy who tells everyone else to pay their taxes.

the thing is - and lets be totally frank about this - I've yet to encounter 1 single person "in the real world" who wouldn't opt to pay less tax IF THEY COULD. Why should anyone in their right mind want to work hard - most probably in jobs they hate but are stuck in, with pressures that ruin the best part of their lives, struggling to provide for THEIR families... doing the best THEY can - volunteer to pay more in taxes?
The whole system is "played" by small businesses, that have part "real" and part "cash" accounting... Do you really think every penny YOU pay to the window cleaner in cash goes through his books? - does it buggary... so WE ALL contribute to "tax avoidance" in some form or other.... and to pretend otherwise is simply disillusion.

Defend it all you like for the PM to have been part of such a scheme is a scandal. This is the guy who tells everyone else to pay their taxes. No tax evasion took place. Tax evasion is illegal. Tax AVOIDANCE is not, and whether it is immoral seems to be a matter of degree. As Quaysider said, any cash in hand transaction is likely to involve illegal tax evasion, let alone avoidance, which id practiced legally by hundreds of thousands of people and businesses on the advice of their accountants.
There is a lot of hypocrisy about, which to my mind is worse than tax avoidance.

I really do think he has a problem, He while an MP knew his dad was a tax avoider,SO his dad dies and he now wants to close tax avoidance,He claimed DLA for his son nothing illegal about it ,Although why a multi millionaire would need to is beyond me ,Perhaps it was a case of well we can so we will.So then his son dies sadly and then he decides that people on DLA are not going to be getting it and changes to PIP which is a farce from start to finish. He is like a spoilt kid ,he comes across with the attitude if I am not getting it no one else is.And he uses such crap to justify it he should be certified..
