Now I know some of you dislike widebeam boats with a passion but having looked at lots of narrowboats I have today as lovely and practical as they are I can not see myself aboard one. So I have looked at several Widebeam boats researched the builders and took sound advice from Tony and Peterboat as to restrictions and costs etc. My house is in the market and viewings have already started within first week so fingers crossed I will soon escape from bricks and mortar and get some sanity back into my life.I have short listed 3 boats just in case one sells before my house does bug as part of my getting ready planes I have started sawing up my pile of 8 year seasoned wood most of which is apple and pear with a small amount of pine. My son will store it undercover I will have a good supply tone getting on with.12 bags already cut and I reckon another 30 to 40 to do. Oh Iv just remembered I also have a pile of plain off cuts Iv had piled and drying out for over 5 years so another 15 to 20 bags. Just need s boat now

I will be living with my young Labrador Misty and the boat will have a name change to Misty and Me. My intentions are to start a YouTube channel to map out my change of life journey and hopefully I inspire others that it’s never too late to open another chapter in your life. For me it’s anout getting some sanity back into my life which living amongst the boating community I feel sure will be easier than where I am now.

Mind you a good one will probably cost more than a widebeam. Yes, good luck with your new way of life. I found the hardest bit was breaking out of the bubble..

Boaters are just ordinary people in a situation the allows them to be helpful to each other? I blame Thatcher and Tebbit for uprooting what community we still had but that's another thread. For me it was untangling myself from the racing rats and ever growing list of companies wanting to dip into my bank account once a month + chucking 99% of my wordly possessions of which I miss nothing. In other words a more simple life with "normal" at arms length. I'd have a widebeam if it didn't mean I'd have to work a bit to support it, very nice they are, but in all honesty as one bloke and a dog you might find you're rattling around in there...and they don't wobble around enough, you might forget it's a boat. Nah, I'm just jealous of your impending luxury life afloat.

That sounds good and I like the name that you're going to call your future boat "MISTY & ME". It would be nice to find another youtube channel if you're really going to make one, as for the time being, afaik there's only one on youtube, and they make entertaining video's www.youtube.com/channel/UCFGLxc3pVp9z3xGT1qrauiw I think that I must have misunderstood one of your previous postings, as I had the impression that you'de made your WB boat choice with the 70' one you visited before. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the sale of your house, and your futur life afloat. Peter.

Just need s boat now Doesn't matter if others don't like widebeams (I don't) because they aren't buying them, you are. The only other thing I'd say is that if sanity is your goal a narrow, or wide beam, or Dutch barge, probably isn't the best way forward. A rather pleasant insanity is more likely , I'd suggest.
