Playing devil's advocate, are your friends squeaky clean or have they been pushing the boundaries, not that that is wrong necessarily but it can inflame the situation? Fuck off. πππππ When I see a sign saying "Do not Press This Button".....

In the same way that a car MOT only has to valid at the start of a new VED, a BSS only has to be valid at the start of the new licence period. Are you sure they are not applying early for a licence, with the BSS valid at the time of application but not at the time when the new licence becomes required? If not Iβd suggest a formal complaint to CRT and if that fails, to the Ombudsman. At least it gets it into the public domain. No the certs have definately been valid at the start date of the liscence perioud. As I say some friends have just got the new cert, some people have phoned up and demanded the liscence with the current cert and it s been issued. But it does seem to becoming more common.

It is, sadly, posts like this, that are not encouraging new members joining TB. There speaks the blackest pot on the stove.

πππππ When I see a sign saying "Do not Press This Button"..... It was the unsaid implications in your post which made me comment in such a way and don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.

Weβre they doing it on line? I would have thought it would then be decided by a computer - either the application is in compliance with the rules, or not - without any scope for human discretion.

Good point, as far as I know it was on the phone. But I imagine the person at the other end was sat I front of a computer, so it will have been the computer that said no.

I'm not sure if this is true at all. It was a suggestion by someone, for me re-reporting (as was in all newspapers) abuses carried out by certain international 'aid' charity workers. You are certainly trying to squeeze every penny out of this one.

To be fair it was a fair question if you thought it had undertones then fine. But it would be interesting to know if boaters were being treated differently because of their history, even if that history is make believe by CRT. You gave examples of boats getting and not getting licences, there must be a reason and is it because of history? Surely if a boat has a Bss then it should be issued with a licence. If said boat then has no Bss during the licence period, then CRT should take appropriate action then.
