I've been offered an irresistible fairline 19 for a very good price. Its out of water and the hull shape looks interesting. Plenty of support to the stern it looks like it might fly given a big enough outboard. Not a deep vee but it looks interesting.
So what is the max OB size for these? I was thinking about 70hp maybe.

That's a bit optimistic, I think 40hp was about the maximum. It will go like fuck with a 40hp two stroke anyway. Some were available with Enfield legs and watermota petrols and Volvo AQ 115 a good quick boat.

I fell over someone with a very odd 50hp electric start outboard not long ago he wanted to have some beer money. It was one of the london slum boats. 50hp 2 stroke will make it go! Must find him again and give him a few tenners.
Time to do a teenager rebellion thing maybe!
Nice alternative to the electric canoe.

The windows can be a bastard to seal, I did my brother's 20, basically the same boat with an extra bit on the arse end. I wonder if it's had rubber and perspex in place of the original ali framed windows? Jack Newington built an empire on that boat, shame the twats entrusted with that empire failed him 🤬😤 It's a better midlife crisis than a Mazda MX-5 btw 👍😁🍻

why the question? where on earth are you gonna use this monstrous jetski safely? I had a 15ft speedboat when I was younger and more foolish, fitted with a 36hp penta, and the only place I got to use it flat out was when water skiiing in a gravel pit and on Lough Neagh, one of the biggest lakes in Europe, which is often mirror smooth. Fun for a few minutes but then a bit of a yawwwwwnnn ..................

As to the wierdness of the windows, I suspect this may be an example of a boat made under licence, possibly after the original manufacturer ceased production. Here's a pic of the original: The hull profile and overall cabin shape look right. As for what you want it for - dicking about in the Thames estuary getting used to it all while not placing your Colvic (which is also your home) at risk. Totally go for it, I've got the charts n that.

My mates first boat, also the first one we had a proper trip in, was one of those. Great little boats. Inspired me to buy a similar little cruiser.

Totally go for it, I've got the charts n that. having spent a year being transported daily to and from the workplace over a 20 mile open sea route off the coast of Malta on board a small Italian navy gunboat (ex-US navy), at 25 knots I can honestly say it was the most uncomfortable means of travelling I have ever experienced. Where is the attraction apart from masochistic pleasure?

You're a sadist then? Personally I'd go a bit slower if the sea was a bit choppy. Anyhow if it were your boat you could always fit a comfy chair...
