As I've said before, the central tenet of environmentalism is a belief that other people should change their behaviour. I disagree - surprise, surprise.
I think the central tenet of (moderate) environmentalism is a belief that we should all try to do our bit without completely changing the world. Those who protest for environmental stuff are normally trying to raise awareness of the issue (yes they can seem/are hypocritical at times) but somehow the way humans behave towards the environment needs to change and that isn't going to change if you just set up on a small eco smallholding.

It's shocking the amount of plastic we put in our bin. Bin liners themselves. Plastic packets for meat (chicken, beef, fish, etc.). Tomato ketchup bottles. Plastic boxes that held cotton buds. Freezer bags. Bread packets. Plastic packets that held shoe liners. Oil containers. Old pens. In Finland plastic drinks bottles do get shredded - you put them in machines in the shops and get 20 to 40 cents back. Where the shredded bits go, who can say? But then many people just stick them in the bins, and many people in Finland just throw them out their car windows. There are people who go scouring the ditches for 'money', and the bottles that the kids leave on our buses in Kannus are collected by us three drivers and put in a big cardboard box which I cart to the shops about 4 times/year to collect the money which I then distribute to all three.
Have a look inside the Biffa bins at any CRT service station for an education.

We used to take a shopping bag to carry purchases home from individual shops ... greengrocer, baker, butcher.
The supermarkets appeared and continued to increase in size, introduced heat sealed and prepackaged goods, where at most a paper bag was all you previously got.
The supermarkets eventually killed the small shops, and having created the prepacked revolution, we are now to believe they are saving the world by suggesting they're reducing packaging.
Try and buy a cig and two matches in a paper bag these days.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I suppose many should be grateful we bought our boat in England as our flights have been shortened by just between Finland - UK for the past 5 to 6 years. Before the boat was offered to us, we had plans which included to fly to New Zealand and Japan and drive across the USA. It's dog eat dog, I'm afraid. Always has been and always will be. Look at this. Roger Hallam is a founder of the Extinction Rebellion twats: wwoof.org.uk/news/opportunity-organic-grower-organic-veg-business-saleI wonder how much in farm subsidies the twat got. Did his tractor run on rat’s-piss or diesel (red I assume). As for 'Extinction Rebellion': "Let’s see what protests they do in winter. I would Go around to their houses turn the gas, electricity and water off." "Anyone who classes themselves as a Anarchist or Marxist should have their property seized, bank accounts cleaned out, car and home taken. Put money where their mouth is, as all property is theft isn't it?" The ‘dog eats dog’ argument is also bollocks. I don’t know anyone who likes selfish people. I suppose it works if you end up being the only person left on the planet... We are all selfish otherwise we would let in all the refugees and house them in our empty spare rooms, it’s probably more accurate to say we don’t like people more selfish than ourselves....

How do you know whether a ‘refugee’ is more selfish than yourself? We only have one bedroom on our boat. How big is your house? Your last sentence is probably more accurate though.

Loads of room for 'refugees' here!

It would appear to be true. However I was sceptical. The two letters we have recieved from a member of parliament were written on embossed paper.

Rog However not too late I think for the ride to turn..we still have local butchers, greengrocers and fish mongers plus artisan bakers...nothing in plastic wrap apart from some soft fruit and some meat for freezers..we don't have to purchase the plastic wrap goods and I don't...I decant fruit into my own containers and they reuse the plastic for folks who don't bring their own The local health shop now selling refillable stuff. I hope all our small businesses continue to survive despite there now being small Tescos and small co-op..I will support the independents as much as I can... Hopefully people will begin to demand less plastics..there are alternatives being produced..saw some disp plates made out of leaves I think.

One of your reasons is utter bollocks. Dads can care for kids too, you know. Or are you one of those mardy arses that's never changed a nappy or cared for your kids by yourself?

She's only just had the baby - and now wants to get away from it! "Once it actually sinks in that she is, quite simply, Mrs. Hewitt, and of no import, she’ll be off like a rat up a drainpipe."

I doubt that neither Queen or prince Philip changed many nappies themselves. Probably didn’t even spend much time with their little ones either. Maybe that explains the adults they became.

That doesn't validate naughtyfox's ill thought out diatribe though.
