Just caught up with this ... congratulations kris that after a two year wait they've finally (I hope) reinstated you.
I was inclined to respond to the comments of 'what's it matter if he doesn't want to post anyway' ... such comments exposing the unfairness of the moderation there, and the pomposity and selfishness of some of the posters ... 'doesn't affect me so who cares'.
But frankly I can't be arsed.
They get the forum they deserve ... and I utterly agree, I prefer it here too.
What about tatty old boats with knackered Listers? __________________________________________________________
Arthur, I've noticed from some of your relatively recent posts that you're having some problems with your SR2 again, . . if I remember right the most recent was an elusive oil leak, and, I think, a gearbox fault before that.
I'll be doing quite a bit of travelling up and down to Liverpool over the next few weeks, and I'll be passing not too far away from Macclesfield. If you would like me to call in and give your engine a FoC once over please call me on 07553 294325.
Whatever you've been advised, or have concluded yourself about your old Lister, if it starts and runs at all then it's highly unlikely that there's anything wrong that's too serious to be put right relatively easily and economically. I've yet to come across any engine in any pleasure boat that is truly worn out, . . but I've seen plenty that are suffering from years of being severely underworked and longish periods standing idle without being used at all, or the attentions of so-called engineers who really don't know what they're doing !
