Denham Lock Update:
Please be informed that Denham Deep Lock remains closed and won’t be opened as anticipated for this weekend. We are continuously reviewing the situation, and we envisage the lock may re-open to narrowboat passage mid - next week.
Denham Deep Lock is closed to the Grand Union Canal due to a fault with the bottom offside gate collar. Our Operations Team will attempt to fix the lock and we will provide updates as soon as possible.
We kindly advise customers to seek an alternative route or avoid the stated Lock whilst repair works are ongoing.
The only alternative route North is via Reading and Oxford and Braunston. Still, if you are in a hurry you shouldn't be boating, as they say!

It needs a new gate (hopefully they will replace both at the same time but who knows with CRT). Still a possibility they might be able to arrange passage for narrowboats.

This is the problem with getting a crt long term mooring at Uxbridge. As for the alternative route it is very attractive if you like a spot of boating but it doesn't look like there is a "Christmas window" on the River. I will be testing this and hoping it is wrong as have a planned MI6 celebration cruise up the River with some of the ladies on the new frigate. Well actually just one of the ladies but have not shared her details with the woman or children as it's all under the official secrets act. Dressed up as a staff social event. Hambleden,Whitchurch and Sandford are all between Oxford and Brentford.

If CRT can't recognise when one of their lock gates is close to a catastrophic failure then the chief person in charge should take a low bow, admit he has failed, and do the honorable thing.

I agree. My reference to moorings was in jest.
My pet theory is that there is a real problem with sorting the bottom gates on Denham lock.
It just seems to be interesting that it would be this particular lock as it is the deep one. They even call it "Denham deep lock". I believe the correct name for it is Denham Lock.

I believe the correct name for it is Denham Lock. I dispute that as the lock is in Ickenham not Denham!

That's interesting. I suppose these days it should be called Fran's or Roger's lock.

No cranes at this lock, although they are probably little gates

Nice looking boat in the lock.
I remember Sutton's stop from years ago. Been there a few times including on my first trip living on a boat which was from Kingston on Thames to Audlem and back. April/May 1994. Happy days.
