The elsan at Fosse locks on the Grand Union has been closed and fenced off.
This means the nearest elsan point is either at Napton, Braunston, or the top of Hatton 21.
I have e mailed Richard Parry's office to register a complaint re the closure, and just received a reply from Mathew Symonds.
The closure is temporary as problems have been experienced in the vehicle accessing to pump out the holding tank. A meeting with a land owner is scheduled for Wednesday this week, when it is hoped that alternative access can be arranged, and the elsan reopened.
Good speedy reply from C&RT and hopefully the closure will be over very soon.

The elsan was closed off several months ago as I traveled north, even then the stoppage notice was old and the growth around the fence indicated that it wasn't something just put up.
Good on you if you can play a part in getting it reopened.
ETA. I passed by around the 10th of July. I notice the current stoppage notice is dated just a few days ago. I doubt anything has changed since I went past, at that time the stoppage notice was dated Feb or Mar (I think) and was due to concerns about safety access for the contractor responsible for the tank.

Home now and the boats in the arm at Warwick.
I was a bit annoyed at the closure because notices had been posted on nearby lock balance beams, but no 'alert' had gone out for people (like me) heading that way but not yet in the area.
I did speak to a guy with a permanent mooring at Fosse who was REALLY vexed, having paid C&RT for a mooring with access to water and elsan, only to have the elsan removed.
Still, if it's temporary ...

ETA According to the e mail today the closure began in June.

Temporary has a way of becoming permanant when it comes to cart. Weve all seen the orange "temporary" netting they put up around hazards that need repairing.

Absolutely ... and the closure of elsans at Autherley and Hurlston to be 'replaced later' but never have been.
That's why I wished to register a protest ... and will be watching for a positive outcome.
But in fairness C&RT have promptly replied so I am hopeful.

Well done for reporting it, but the closure of facilities seems to be a policy of carts at the moment. Unless boaters make more fuss about it, i think its the intention of cart that boats will have to use commercial marinas in the future for such things as elsans and water.

I reckon temporary closures of elsan points, which end up not being temporary, are perfect scenarios for 'direct action' Arrange for a number of boaters to dump the contents of their cassettes directly into the cut outside the closed facility. Ideally, get a couple of boats with holding tanks and self pumping to gear to discharge their mess as well. Inform CRT that there's a pollution incident due to them closing the facility.

Perhaps time for this list to be updated and sent to CRT I think it died somewhere along the line. I’ve always thought an independent record of the state of the system would be a good idea. However my faith is with Richard Parry. ...well I’d like to think that with my ‘rose eyed’ specs...

Perhaps time for this list to be updated and sent to CRT No CRT Elsan facility between Penkridge and Grendon unless you divert to and/or pay at a private marina …..? Water point at Wardle out of use - as is the one at Fazeley?! Newly replenished borehole at Tyrley has now run dry …..!!! I may be wrong - would be happy to stand corrected. However, it seems to be CRTs policy to erode more and more boaters' services - yet they want more boats to use the network? Where is the logic? Is there some kind of Health & Safety and/or Human Rights/Disability Access infringement going here? Making life better by water? met x
