Anyone know the status on the "temporary" closure of the Elsan at Fradley, please?
Sorry if this is ancient history but CRT have stopped my "stoppage" notices - can check other ways, I know, but - just asking ….

thelittleone's update isn't good news....
Don't CRT realise what's likely to happen if they fail to maintain these facilities?

I'm assuming the Fosse elsan will be opened by the landowner who will be operating it 'under licence' from C&RT, so he'll have to clear out the concrete first and get it ready for use.
Not heard any further updates.

My problem with the landowner managing things is - what happens when the landowner changes? Or realises it is just too much hassle. Seems to me CRT just glad to get rid of the responsibility.

The landowner is a live aboard boater who wishes to continue using the facility himself, so I am reasonably certain it will reopen at some point.
But I agree that the operation of services around the system should be C&RT's bailiwick.

Probably 25% less elsan facilities over the last 10? years... can't be bothered to check - but I know it's at least 20 miles and 10 locks before I can uncross my legs..
- and I now get 5% less for my early licence payment...

Keep warm and well everyone.

Finally a bit of an update on Fosse elsan.
C&RT have reopened the elsan, continuing to operate it themselves, having been granted permission by the land owner to take a vehicle onto the land to 'pump out' as necessary.
Apparently they'd only blocked the elsan off with sand bags, and put a shallow skim of concrete over the top.
I won't be able to personally confirm its operation until next week when we hope to use the facility as we pass.

... when we hope to use the facility as we pass. Rog That's quite clever. I've always stopped the boat. Do you have some sort of chute arrangement or perhaps a catapult.

Heard today that the Rugby, Brownsover elsan (car park side of canal) has finally reopened.
This was an elsan that reports suggested 'may' be abandoned.
Glad to say it's back working with a new pump fitted.
